Молчат Дома [Molchat Doma] - Этажи [Etazhi]
90

Etazhi utilizes everything grandeur from the European gothic synth-led rock era and adds fresh, yet fitting, Belarusian coloration to it. The hooks not only leave an imprint on the ears, but offer tonality that only this album can scratch. And not once do the melodies ever misstep.

Iglooghost - Tidal Memory Exo

A rawer album cover has never been concocted.

Ghais Guevara - BlackBolshevik
70

Ghais is what Peggy could've been if he practiced what he preaches. Putting the jab aside, BlackBolshevik offers booming tracks soaked in a pocket of samples. The societal commentary does not once feel like a crutch. Its inclusion is, not only warranted, but much needed in the experimental hip hop scene.

Eartheater - Trinity
80

Normally I would critique the lyrics for being mostly one note with the sexual tendencies. However, with the production punching so high and the writing not being too overt. Trinity manages to be a bassy pop record that is quite enjoyable.

Natural Snow Buildings - The Dance of the Moon and the Sun
90

The marrying of Drone and Folk has not been better than on The Dance of the Moon and the Sun, at least to my knowledge. These aforementioned drones swell beautifully and laid in between are splendid folk ballads. Pure bliss.

Drowse - Light Mirror
70

Another downtempo and cold yet captivating record from a band on The Flenser? I'm sold. Light Mirror retains a wide soundstage in typical shoegaze fashion. However, it brings forth some truly impressive heavier (in the slowcore sense) elements akin to Planning For Burial. Quite enjoyable.

Make A Change... Kill Yourself - Make a Change... Kill Yourself
40

While the instrumentation does wonders at making a dense soundscape, the vocals bog down the record by a substantial amount. The usage of screaming on the record feels like a crutch. Instead of carefully orchestrating to make it "heavier" or depressive, it resorts to box standard screaming. This, in turn, makes the experience a slog to get through.

吉村弘 [Hiroshi Yoshimura] - Wave Notation 1: Music for Nine Post Cards
90

How is it that such a calmness can smother the mind? This melancholic in nature album becomes sentimentally moving.
