Great sequel to Tetsuo & Youth
This is the 8th full-length album from Chicago emcee Lupe Fiasco. Blowing up in 2005 after appearing on “Touch the Sky” off of Kanye West’s sophomore album Late Registration, he then went on to release 2 classic albums Food & Liquor and The Cool in 2006 & 2007 respectively. Flawed, Bloated, But also his best
Logic may be in his best era, but he needs to focus on his album flow. There are alot of tracks that are too similar to others, and the lyrics get corny at most times. The features outdo Logic on literally every single track, and some of the tracks even sound like J. Cole copycats. Billy Woods is one of the most acclaimed rappers that I haven't really connected with any of his projects yet, and it's not that I haven't tried as this is his 15th project that I checked out (counting groups and solo). very VERY initial impressions
so far the most diverse production on a kendrick album yet. from lo-fi, murky, spaced out, i dont give a shit, i don't go outside era Earl to jazz, funk, and soul samples more similar to to pimp a butterfly to really classic boom bap drums and west coast pianos and brass. there are strings, choirs, lush vocal arrangements and harmonies, guitars, this album is one of the most wide-ranging hip-hop production projects I've heard. Deftones had been a curiosity for me, but I had never investigated further... until I saw the video for 'Hole In The Earth' on MTV2, and was very impressed.
Having bought this album (my first Deftones album), I'm really impressed. In fact tracks 1 - 5 dominated my listening at the time which says much about the power and quality on show. The latter part of the album is not quite as strong, except for the classic track 'Combat' but I certainly believe this to be one of the best albums of 2006. ... read more
