I am going to rereview this album after listening to it for some months, as my stance has changed.
Vespertine is (in my opinion) the best album ever created. Arguably one of the most influential as well, as noted in my previous review upon first listen I noted similarities although not specific. This album is pure beauty, and evokes just about every positive emotion you can think of. Every song is gorgeous, and has even grown on me even though I thought they were nearly all 10s already. Absolute masterclass in Boom Bap, every song is incredible and genuinely my favorite pre-2000s rap album.
Definitely on-par with revengeseekerz, I absolutely love her vocals and the production on this album. Everything is almost dreamy, along with the layering and reverb being absolutely perfect with the atmosphere this project creates. In addition to the overall soundscape, it is perfectly honed in songs like Dead Forever and Believe, which are personally in my top 5 songs of the year.
no rating on the full project but Congratulations is unironically one of the most beautiful songs ever created for some reason
FINALLY listened to the project after hearing endless praise for it, and this is truly beautiful. Every song is amazing and I absolutely adore the genre bending aspects. 100% deserving of all the glazing it gets.
One of the craziest, most experimental, and ahead of it's time albums I've ever heard.
Nice album, most songs are actually really good, and surprisingly ahead of their time production.
I've never really enjoyed glaive. There's just something about most of his songs that don't feel right, but this ep is beautiful. I feel like this is what he was meant to make, everything just works here. Very impressive showing from glaive.
edit: apparently I was listening to the castrated clean version the whole time and oh my god the explicit version of living proof (that it hurts) is one of the best songs oat
I went in with no expectations other than suffering until Ufo and Alcoholic. Cupcakke killed it, especially on the rap songs, she unironically carries herself really well and has incredible flow and delivery. Even the more meme-y songs are still fun listens for the most part. Surprisingly, definitely worth the listen.
Gorgeous throughout, although I'm not the biggest fan of the just instrumental tracks, I feel like it hinders the flow of the album a little bit. Every track with rapping on it is insanely good, and Lady Brown has some of the best rapping AND production of all time. Nujabes is an all timer, and you would be hard pressed to find someone who whole heartedly disagrees.
