The holy Trinity of “its so bad you will continue to hear it forever” truly a timeless mound of something
Sweet and sensual
Dude this album is sexy. Uchis is sounded like an r&b veteran on this thing. Everything about this sounds so effortless and stress-free. A genuinely fun listening experience. The highest of heights aren’t quite reached for me but it’s so consistent. Kali continues her streak of making some of the most infectious r&b music out there right now.
Also don sounded better on this than he did on almost his entire record. Hm
Drab and generic in comparison to the other half of this rollout. Nothing offensively bad but forgettable and occasionally tacky and almost outdated
A few highlights but it’s soooooo packed with filler and generic/borderline awful tracks. Could’ve had an interesting aesthetic but it feels more like a gimmick.
slowthai is more in his element on this release than ever.
It’s really such an entertaining listen, and the pacing of the track list is great. The raw vocals over the top of some of the grittiest production this year so far. There are great ideas all over this thing and some of the more iffy moments are nearly saved by some of the great details here and there. The intro “Yum” feels like a twisted industrial nightmare, one of the strongest openers to an album that I’ve ... read more
I won't lie, I’m slightly confused on this one. I may need more listens but nothing really stuck out to me all that much. There were some cool soundscapes throughout, but its kinda just generic post-punk.
Most of the hype was real.
I’m fairly new to this site (late last year) and I’ve just today started to rate/review albums on here so I’m playing a bit of catch up. This is also why my average score is extremely high.
Back to the album, Yachty delivered something that doesn’t come very often, a full rebrand in sound that isn’t complete ass. Though his influences on the aesthetics and the production end shine through greatly, he has at the very least curated an ... read more
Yep yep mmhmm mmhm yummy tasty
Here’s a quick little baby short one
This one took a while to form a review on. It’s grown on me quite a bit and didn’t want to get out a half-baked opinion. That being said this is still gonna be a real short one lmao.
First off, I think that cover is gorgeous. There are just a few moments lacking in substance for me, but it’s so extraordinarily gorgeous across many other. The production is heavenly. “Hopedrunk Everasking” ... read more
I’m white and I love this (classic white boy moment)
But seriously this is amazing, every track hits you as hard as the last, outside of the slower tracks which I also mostly love. I’m a little hesitant on Divers but there’s something about the other two that grab my ear. The production is something out of nightmares and the vocals pair nearly perfectly with it. Truly a brutal and relentless album. There are some obvious influences going on here but I don’t think it ... read more
Exceptionally consistent and consistently exceptional (heh see what I did there😼)
Food for Worms is as powerful sentimentally as it is technically impressive. The riffs all over this thing are amazing. Some especially compelling moments musically. Lived up to the singles that were released prior. A remarkably engaging experience. Generally beautiful songwriting. Looking forward to hopefully a more ambitious album from shame in the future as I believe they could make something genuinely ... read more
Beautiful and serene
Few R&B albums have as much of a unique style as this one does. It’s pretty cut and dry, there is great singing, atmospheric instrumentals, and it catches your ear in an interesting way. The production is gorgeous. On a slightly less positive note, it’s too long and the songs drag at times. There is also very weak song structure across most of the album. I enjoyed the listen but I think I’ll like it more in bits and pieces rather than all at once.
