Nas - King’s Disease II

Nas Discography Reviews (16/20)

We are almost done with Nas's immense discography, and having a huge success with King's Disease II. This project is so unbelievably consistent, barful, and just overall great. Nas and Hitboy do it once again, delivering fantastic beats and bars, remaining to be one of the best duos in all of hip hop in these 2020s.

When it comes to tracklist consistency, this album is so nearly perfect. Every track is really solid and truly displays what Nas does ... read more

Nas - The Lost Tapes 2

Nas Discography Reviews (15/20)

Maybe I am becoming a Nas glazer, but this felt really good too, really I am shocked to see these scores. Sure, it doesn't touch the first Lost Tapes at all, yet this tracklist does have really strong tracks like Vernon Family, Lost Freestyle, and War Against Love.

There are some lows here of course, tracks like Adult Film with Swizz Beats, unfortunately, really not a big fan of the beat. Production all in all does feel slightly lifeless as well on a ... read more

Nas - King's Disease

Nas Discography Reviews (14/20)

Nas has officially spanned three decades into his rap career and is still dropping insane quality. King's Disease, the Grammy nominated, and Best Rap Album award winner of 2020, proves to be a testament of how consistent and fantastic Nas truly is. King's Disease boasts many fantastic tracks like The Cure, 10 Points, Ultra Black, Car #85, All Bad featuring Anderson Paak, just so much quality. Hit-Boy's production really feels so immersive and so ... read more

Nas - NASIR

Nas Discography Reviews (13/20)

Holy overhated, what the hell is going on here. I feel that all production on the project is solid, I can understand someone not liking Cops Shot the Kid but I personally really like it, and Nas has some very strong story telling performances. Really the only weak things I can point out on NASIR is Nas, somehow, being a little too political on tracks like everything which also suffers from a not great hook by Kanye as well. Otherwise, I feel NASIR is a really ... read more

Nas - Life is Good

Nas Discography Reviews (12/20)

Man this album cover is so goofy mannnn. Looking past that, Life is Good displays Nas getting shockingly introspective and deep on this project. Nas really displays fantastic lyrical prowess and even improves better on his hook game.

When it comes to song concepts, Life is Good is very rich in quality. Songs like Accident Murderers talking about petty street beefs and men killing innocent civilians on accident and getting locked up for 20 to life, not to ... read more

Q - 10 songs

Shoutout the goat @ThatWhiteGuy this man keeps me with many things to listen to, there is never a dull moment in expanding my music taste!

Here we have a bit of a reach for me when it comes to my music sphere, Q, an alternative R&B artist. I am not the biggest R&B guy but this was a very solid mixtape. Kinda reminds me of the 'Drop 7' mixtape that Little Simz dropped back in 2024, at least similar in name. Q has very good vocals and uses inflections to his benefit. While I do ... read more

Future Discography Reviews #4

I remember someone recommended me Monster by Future a while back so thank you, I am sorry I cannot remember who it was. With that being said, Monster is a fantastic listen. The mixtape delivers eerie and hardcore influences while still bringing those fantastic trap beats by Metro Boomin. Future brings great flows and verses and with their creative output put to it's best, they make fantastic tracks like Codeine Crazy, Throw Away, Radical, Monster, My Savages, ... read more

Future - Honest
77

Future Discography Reviews #3

WE ARE HEATING UP WITH THIS ONE! WE ARE OUT OF MID CITY THAT IS FOR SURE.

Honest, one of Future's many early LP's, boasts many fantastic trap bangers and iconic verses. Most importantly, and the reason I do these full discography reviews rather than just listening to the hit albums, is we see great evolution on this project from Future. His auto-crooning while still is a bit shaky, does have improvements, his use of autotune on his actual voice is much ... read more

Nas & Damian Marley - Distant Relatives
70

Nas Discography Reviews (11/20)

I am actually surprised by how enjoyable this is. Distant Relatives has never really been in my radar, since Nas just has so many fantastic projects that take the limelight. While this album's soundscape is very different from anything that Nas has given us before, really diving into Damian Marley's style of reggae beats. What I also find so interesting about Distant Relatives and this pairing is that Damian Marley really takes the more primary rapper ... read more

Future - Pluto

Future Discography Reviews #2

As much as I try to vibe out to Future and not necessarily 'put the glasses on' for his projects, this one is just kinda hard to even vibe to. A lot of just not great performances from Future, you can really tell he was still trying to find his sound.

Nas - Untitled
67

Nas Discography Review (10/20)

Lowkey I feel like Untitled is just another slightly overhated Nas album. The beats are definitely the biggest challenge when listening to this, but Nas's lyricism is so direct and powerful on this project, it makes for a really great listen. The political messaging and features on the project just make it such a standout in Nas's catalogue for me so far.

Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead
75

Nas Discography Review (9/20)

Nas's release in 2006, Hip Hop is Dead, one of his most contreversial titles out of all his releases. Doing research upon why Nas released an album with the name such as this, I found out he really did it for both the audience of hip hop and all rappers to really think about the current state and really criticizing newer rappers for not nurturing the craft that he helped build.

Hip Hop is Dead sports many really fantastic tracks like Money Over Bullshit, Hip ... read more

Nas - Street's Disciple
67

Nas Discography Review (8/20)

We now hit Nas's double album, maybe JAY-Z and Nas had the same guy tell them to make double albums. That guy should have been fired.

Street's Disciple is a very mixed bag of a project since so much of it is either good or passable but it also contains possibly his lowest lows and fair amount of bloat or filler. Tracks like Nazareth Savage, Street's Disciple, War, and Theifs Theme are all fantastic tracks, but these don't really push the album ... read more

Future - Astronaut Status
57

Future Discography Reviews #1

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, one of my good friends is a massive Future glazer so I simply must listen to this discography to see where the glaze is justifiable or crazy. I do think that this debut from Future, Astronaut Status, is a solid start for sure and has some very solid tracks like Deeper then the Ocean, Rider, and Birds Take a Bath, but there is a lot of not great filler that really holds it back.

Nas - God's Son
81

Nas Discography Review (7/20)

Coming off of the compilation, The Lost Tapes, we get Nas's 6th studio album, God's Son. God's Son came out at a very chaotic and vulnerable time in Nas's career, having the beef with JAY-Z still greatly alive and active, his mother passing too soon due to cancer, and many younger rappers making a mockery of the genre Nas helped form shape. We can see all three of these events represented through Nas's fantastic writing, in my opinion, ... read more

Nas - The Lost Tapes
83

Nas Discography Reviews (6/20)

Nas, these so called Lost Tapes could have easily saved Nastradamus. What the heck man.

Asides from that terrible joke, let's have a discourse over this shockingly great compilation. Tracks like Doo Rags, Purple, Blaze a 50, and so many others make this compilation one of the best i've ever heard. Like this shit is fantastic. Really all I can take away from The Lost Tapes is that the production is a bit basic and doesn't sound the best mixed or ... read more

Fat Ray - Food from the Gods

Another shoutout to my guy @ThatWhiteGuy

Going into unexplored territory here with Black Milk and Fat Ray. I have heard of Black Milk before but not Fat Ray. When it comes to Food from the Gods, I think it has some really strong production from Black Milk, like really good. Fat Ray brings some very solid rapping performances on many tracks and the features on this project do mostly well, Bruiser Wolf was not my favorite but Danny Brown was good as always.

Really, the only drawback I have on ... read more

Nas - Stillmatic

Nas Discography Reviews (5/20)

After JAY-Z's aggressive diss track on Nas and Mobb Deep on The Blueprint, "Takeover", Nas knew he had to respond with something heavy as the general hip hop audience in New York had already claimed JAY the king of New York after that. Then comes the album Stillmatic, containing arguably the best disstrack of all time 'Ether'. Now this review is more than a review over Ether, but just some quick points on it. Nas named it Ether to ... read more

MIC Mike - MIKE
77

Shoutout @mussomyers for putting me onto MIC Mike

I can't lie when I first saw this, I though MIKE, as in Showbiz! MIKE, dropped another album this year. The names caused many confusions. That put aside, MIKE is a fantastic combination of conscious hip hop and jazz rap. Every track on this list has expert production and fantastic lyricism. When it comes to the conceptual topics, we see MIC Mike talking about him becoming a father to twins on Memories and writing a letter to friends and ... read more

Nas - Nastradamus
49

Nas Discography Reviews (4/20)

Man, this is really sad. My goat Nas really dropped some hot dogshit here after a generational three album run. What is most shocking is that the first half of the album I was lowkey grooving with, like it was not even THAT bad. However, my smile slowly faded, track by track, enduring men's greatest challenge of the second half of Nastradamus. That shit was so ass. Like soooooo ass. WHY DID HE RELEASE BIG GIRL ON TS.
