Fever Ray - Plunge
87

Pretty damn great! Some really nice varied production.

Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile - Lotta Sea Lice
79

Pretty good album. Its score would've been much higher if the whole album had been on the level of standout tracks Over Everything, Fear Is Like a Forest, and Continental Breakfast, and On Script.

A cover of Peepin' Tom was a nice surprise, but only because it's a great song, and tbh I prefer Kurt's original recording more than Courtney's cover. Going back to listen to it now.

Pixies - Doolittle
95

Absolute classic

Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra - Horses in the Sky
95

Seems not to be the best-loved Silver Mt. Zion album, but for me this contains some of their best ever tracks in God Bless Our Dead Marines and Mountains Made of Steam.

Offa Rex - The Queen of Hearts
78

When it's good, it's really good!

But too often it is just kind of okay. Shame.

Arca - Arca
50

I don't understand the hype. Some of it was okay but some of it was horrible.

Thundercat - Drunk
50

I don't know the last time I was so underwhelmed by an album. This was just so boring.

Priests - Nothing Feels Natural
84

A real No Wave/Post Punk throwback, which is definitely not a bad thing!!! I can't stop listening to this.

Childish Gambino - "Awaken, My Love!"
69

Never liked him much as a rapper, so this is an improvement to my ears!

Jalen Santoy - Charlie Eastern
86

This kid has real potential

Swet Shop Boys - Cashmere
80

I wasn't a big fan of Das Racist nor am I a big fan of Riz as an MC, but the production on this record is so good that it all just works. I can't even explain it but I like it. (For the most part. There are a couple of very skippable tracks)

Travis Scott - Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight
55

Another insipid trap album.

Only achieved a score as high as it did due to some good feature spots by other artists.

Vince Staples - Prima Donna
83

I really like this a lot, but the many long outros got kind of boring.

Frank Ocean - Blonde
92

I feel like I'm gonna be upgrading my score for this album every time I listen to it.

First listen - 85
Second listen - 88
Third listen - 92
...

Tish Hyman - Dedicated To:
74

Started out REALLY strongly but couldn't maintain the quality after the 3rd track. Disappointing.

Michael Kiwanuka - Love & Hate
89

Willing to admit that I had never heard of this guy before. What a brilliant surprise this album was. It's a great fusion of classic soul with modern influences.

Chance the Rapper - Coloring Book
40

This guy's horrible rap voice is still as insufferable as ever.

YG - Still Brazy
65

Instantly forgettable.

"I agree. I am a pretty huge Kendrick Lamar fan, I rated Section.80 and GKMC! as 100/100 albums and TPAB over 90, so Damn was a let-down tbh. Whether played forward or backward, it's okay but nothing more, which from Kendrick is a real disappointment. +1 to not understanding the hype."
