Like a light version of Sharon Van Etten. Vocally they're similar but when it comes to the instrumentation and lyrical content, Brigid Mae Power lacks behind considerably.
Chameleon Day is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. I must say there is something about this Mike Hollis guy.
I've listened to fair share of records this year, and I have to say: THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST SHIT I HAVE EVER LISTENED TO. WTF.
I do not want to say more, do not give it a listen. Take my word for it, this is not even music.
After giving this record another listen, I must admit, that I was not in the right mindset when first listening to this.
Andrew Bird explores his violin to its deepest grain, while creating incredibly spacious sound landscapes. He uses the violin in a completely different way compared to his earlier work.
There is a floating, limitless ambience and I love it
Definitely one of Andrew Bird's most focused and energetic records. The production is miles ahead of his newer records. His trademark violin sticks around but it feels less intrusive due to the diverse instrumentation that shines through on here.
Andrew Bird, known for his really deep lyricism, is much more articulate on The Swimming Hour than any other record I have heard from him.
Favorite track: Why
This would have been a clear cut 80 had Cudi cut the record down to the first 7 tracks and called it an EP. Kid Cudi really picked himself up on this one, despite the majority of the songs being deprived of any creative production or lyricism. Largely a significant improvement over SB2H.
Kid Cudi's flow also seems alot more coherent and his lyrics aren't all that bad. The production is vibrant and feels alot deeper on most of the beginning tracks.
Baptized In Fire sounds like a b-side from a ... read more
Changed my score to reflect my opinion now since I've been listening to it alot more. One of the only rap albums I consistenly keep going back to.
Far from as good as Live from the Dentist Office. Only felt like 3 or 4 of these songs are worthy of Injury Reserve. Vic Mensa's feature is really bad too and is a complete discourse from the atmosphere and mood that the album sets in the first few songs.
Edit: Was definitely wrong about this album. It is full of bangers.
Opening track is okay, the rest is just bad man. There is really nothing else to it. Not nice :///
I really love some of the almost "mixtapes", that Radiohead used to release after a big album. This is probably one of the best ones.
While Paranoid Android and Let Down are in a universe for themselves, songs like Pearly and A Reminder are actually pretty good too.
I'm rating this in terms of the songs that weren't on OK Computer, however.
Let us just call this what it is, it is mainstream pop. This is as much R&B as my farts. The Weeknd is no different from all the other pop artists that claim they're R&B artists so more white girls can listen to them and feel sophisticated.
Oh yeah, and the record is pretty mediocre. Kendrick Lamar is brazy as always.
This could have been the album of the year had it consisted of 7 songs only. There are so many great moments on this record, but unfortunately due to the bloated nature of the album they fail to make any significant impact.
Shit man this could actually have been amazing, it definitely has the potential. It is not the typical guitar/piano indie folk that we see so often. Instead John K. Samson innovates carefully and subtly. Maybe even too carefully. There was so much more there but John K. ... read more
A fusion of many genres, Pop or Not is a homeless creation in a field soon to be populated with more and more records like itself. Pop or Not feels somewhat ahead of its time, while also carrying crystal clear inspiration from the 80s and 90s. The songs are so full of life and energy, that I could not help but love it for its striking passion alone. This is "new"
Most of the charm from A Tribe Called Quest's 90s releases have returned on this record, where old and new hip hop sound has been fused together in a perfectly symbiotic relationship. The jazz influences that made ATCQs old records so special, has been replaced with electronic beats, and I am not sure whether I am sold on it yet. Generally the production is much more layered and at times even a bit too bloated. It lacks the consistency, that ATCQ's previous good records had.

I have heard this before. It seems as the years go by The Strokes prove themselves to be more and more of a one trick pony, that released one huge album and the rest just gradually went down in quality.. If they could release something as good as "Is This It" or even "Room On Fire, I'd be happy.
It quite frankly sounds like, something that was produced in one of those iPhone beat maker apps. It is just slightly better than the countless of mediocre synthpop records out there.
