One thing is to still push this extremely generic production out. Another thing is to be so late to one of the lamest memes of last year.
I feel like this album belongs more in 2016. Just saying that should give away that this is not a good album.
Travis Scott is good here, though.
skrt skrt/100
Amazing songwriting and vocals. But there is a point where you just kind of start hating the whiny attitude on display here. People Li: The Reckoning kind of changes that with a more lowtempo, serious and lengthy song. (compared to the other songs) Despite how short it is I got really tired of it really quickly.
The James Blake sample is perfect. First two songs show Milo progressing into different more sophisticated themes that go way beyond himself. Compared to the almost biographical Milo takes Baths, Cavalcade takes more of an outside perspective looking at life in a much more philosophical way.
"I wish I was a Merman so I could fall asleep in a bathtub"
Milo is a genius. The production is on par with STFDC on here but much more upbeat and joyous. I love it
Very easy on the ears, Migration is not out to set itself apart. Rather, it is a cool sounding and enjoyable record but nothing more than that. The electronic soundscapes are not vast, they feel enclosed and convoluted to a degree at which the tunes could almost (emphasis on almost) have been stock music for video editing software.
Absolutely horrendous. I could not get through all of the songs.
Even though the album cover might throw some people off (or the other way around lmao) dont let it distract you while you listen to the most well balanced Death Grips record there is. I feel there is a sense of conformity on this record. Death Grips don't need to "fuck the music" anymore. They are comfortable with their style and build on it beautifully on this record.
Favorite tracks: Stockton, Lil Boy
they claim that combined the duo has a dick size greater than 15 inches. I really hope that's true because they literally have nothing else to offer than being dickheads
15/100 ;)
One of the more experimental and interesting projects I have liked from 2016. There is a surprising amount of variety in the production. Everything is in here and somehow it does not sound too chaotic. In fact, it is so well balanced in its execution that you don't even realise that the song went from electro pop to hip hop in an instant.
79/100 Very good
What an amazing song from one of the bands that I had strong prejudice against.
First song is alright because the beat reminds me of Burial. The rest is just some over complicated pop arrangements that they shouldn't have bothered with since their lyrics are as low-effort as they come. And please, when your songwriting is horrible, why do you even bother with the shaky overly emotional voice.
I've come to love the element of patience Talk Talk implemented into their music. Like Mark Hollis said, every single note has a role and it has to be hit at the right time, otherwise it has no impact. Every single note has its own purpose. I think his whole "music mentality" comes to life on Spirit of Eden more than any other Talk Talk record.
Ed Sheeran literally says in the song that because him and his friends are not puking of alcohol poisoning it means that they have matured. Ed Sheeran also talks of his family problems and I honestly didn't know you could say so little with so many words. He is purposely being vague to make the song even more relatable. Please, Ed Sheeran, your own identity and personality is not being conveyed to the listener here, instead it is being drowned in your attempt to hit the billboards.
This is just so bad. Ed Sheeran managed to incorporate incredibly bad wordplay and cram surprisingly many horrible metaphors into this one single.
The production is not bad, but it is just so painfully formulaic.
I have to be honest, I wanted to listen to this record purely because of the unusual name of the artist. I actually really liked some of the tracks like Came from the Stars and Casha Varis. I can not pinpoint any specific genre that the album resides in. It even has two dubstep tracks, that were not so surprisingly horrible.
Obviously a satire piece, but the jokes only go so far. The production is pretty mediocre and monotonous on most of the tracks.
If your music consists of generic trap beats, lyrical content written by obvious fucking losers and whispering skrt skrt, then you are to earn exactly 1.
I cannot believe they actually whisper skrt skrt, how basic can you get
No matter who you are, if you haven't listened to this and you are just remotely interested in music, then boot up your music streaming service of choice and LISTEN. TO. THIS.
With 3 days left of 2016, I can say with 100% uncertainty that this is my aoty. Will Toledo is a genius. Everything from his song-writing and instrumentation to his rough vocals are so refreshing.
Listening to Teens of Denial the first time I could not help but think that this was just an "angsty and edgy teen"- The thing is, that is exactly what Will Toledo is. But he excels at being edgy and rebellious. Every track is a whole new story, a whole new side to this multi-faceted ... read more
