Luke Hemmings - When Facing the Things We Turn Away From

This is pretty cool! Not really what I'd normally listen to and there is a pretty good reason for that, but I definitely don't dislike this by ANY means. Some really good songs here. The ones I don't like kinda all just mesh together into a big blob of music that I quite literally cannot focus on, even, if I tried. Some of these songs were genuine bangers tho and nothing was TOO bad so overall I wouldn't come ... read more

I actually like this more than I thought I would. It's so catchy, because of Cudi's insanely good hooks. Cudi has a great voice too, he sounds incredibly good on this album. Production is so fun and uplifting, sounds amazing too. Some songs like Enter Galactic and Heart of a Lion I am actually obsessed with right now. Enter Galactic especially bro, holy shit that song is amazing. Every song is like pretty good AT LEAST, ... read more

This shit has about as much depth as a plate. No lyrical substance, copy paste trap beats, and every song sounds basically the same. He does switch up the flow sparingly so it's not ALL the same. It's damn near close though. On a good note, it's only 20 minutes so it almost works? it doesn't leave a lot of room to grow and he's gonna really have to lock in to create anything over like 30 minutes with any remote bit of substance. There's just people doing it better ... read more

This cover really gave me different ideas of what is going on in this album LMAO. I also realised half way through that DJ Smokey is the dude with all the funny producer tags so, cool to know his name I guess! Anyways yeah, this is normally not what I'd listen to, with like drum n bass/jersey beats and like cloud rap vocals. I'd say Smokey and Goyard really even each other out here, as in sometimes the vocals don't ... read more

Overall, this goes pretty hard as a glitch hop/hyperpop album. Interesting and maximalist production. Drowned out and edited vocals, I will assume the lyrics are good cus I don't pay attention to them tbh LMAO! Also like by design you can't hear them a lot of the time so like... yeah just kinda how it is.

Starts off super strong with IDK U, imo this one has the most interesting and satisfying sounds of any song on the project. The delivery of "Investigatin bitches yeah, you can ... read more

I literally have SO little issues with this album, it is damn near perfect holy shit. Every single song is just pure, unbelievable production and rapping from both of them. Amazing flows, great verses, insane production. It's so unbelievably consistent dude. I genuinely love every single track here. The production + rapping is just a crazy combo and it works soooooooooo well. Phenomenal.

Kanye West - Donda
67

This is like surprisingly consistent for the insane length. If you separate it from the length and just take the tracks as they are, there's a lot of quality here. I kinda have nothing to say about it other than the fact that I could definitely see this growing on me. other than that, the biggest problem is that a lot of it is exactly the same style (I see where Vultures comes from now lol...) but it's good to throw a few songs off it into a playlist.

Ok Ok pt 2 is really good btw ... read more

Yours Is The World - Ideas II

7/25 of the first listen topster on my twitter @conorsdivision

Hm. This one was hard for me to rate, because it's a bunch of "Ideas" that are mostly instrumental pieces. I don't think my score accurately reflects my thoughts on this album because it's more like an average of two things: a) what I'd normally think of the album and b) what I'd think of it when I'm REALLY in the mood. This can absolutely hit sometimes and when it does it's ETHEREAL. ... read more

Kanye West - JESUS IS KING

This is like a normal album in a gospel cloak lmfao. It's probably the most bang average thing I've ever listened to, I literally have nothing interesting to say here.

"The songs are kinda cool but literally what entertainment value do they provide at all?"
- me, now

Eh, it starts off kinda cool ig. It's pretty much average.

KIDS SEE GHOSTS - KIDS SEE GHOSTS
96

This is the second part of the "7 track albums" that Kanye released himself, and my god is it vastly better than ye. I have to agree with Anthony Fantano here, this is just so hard to... identify? It feels completely unique in the psychedelic and strange instrumentals Cudi and Kanye rap over. Weird vocal chops and samples just elevate this to another LEVEL of good. It's so easy to listen to, and even more satisfying to listen to at that. It feels like a constantly morphing shape ... read more

Kanye West - ye

Don't really get the appeal of this one tbh. It's just another Pop Rap/RnB album basically nothing interesting going on. You'll see people saying "the last 3 tracks save it" but honestly I don't find them that great either. No Mistakes is fire but Ghost Town isn't all that tbh. EVERY single track here just lacks soul. It's kinda insane how his most personal album manages to sound this bland and uninspired. Violent crimes is great until Kanye opens his ... read more

JAY-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne

This is like EXACLTY what I'd expect a Jay Z and Kanye collab to be, just worse LMAO. I kinda see people hating on this album and like I get that you expect more, but as someone who finds Graduation to be dull and LR boring at times, I'm kinda used to it tbh. It's not a bad albums by any means. Not really any bad songs, got some bangers like No Church In The Wild, N****s In Paris, Gotta Have It, Who Gon Stop Me and Why I Love You. Rest of it's kinda dull except for Otis which ... read more

The amount of bangers on this is like insane actually. It's genuinely just fire song after fire song after fire song. FSMH, PT. 2, Famous, Feedback are all bangers that open the album. Has some beautiful moments too in Wolves, Ultralight Beam, Frank's Track. It's experimental, and it tries so many ideas that just STICK. If you forgot this album then you didn't listen hard enough. There's just an insane amount of creativity here that I think goes underappreciated. I know ... read more

Kanye West - Yeezus

Yeezus starts off really well, and continues that energy right up to Send It Up where it falters, and finishes off weak at Bound 2. We have bangers all around here with the heavy industrial sound, And every track feels FAIRLY varied, Just enough anyways. Apart from Send It Up and Bound 2, I don't LOVE Black Skinhead and Blood On the Leaves, but they aren't bad by any means. Just a really solid album with some REALLY good songs, New Slaves and I'm In It especially are masterpieces.

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
71

Deleted my old review cus it was a dumbass rant LOL

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is grand, dramatic, and not particularly amazing! Yeah I still don't like this album that much, the middle gets worse and worse every listen bro. EVERY song from All Of The Lights to Runaway INCLUSIVE, can go burn honestly I couldn't care less LMAO. Runaway is alright but it drags out, I wouldn't miss it to be honest with you. Rihanna is just about the only good part of All Of The Lights, and ... read more

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak

Dude I never reviewed this the first time I listened cus I hated it so much that I didn't even wanna write the review and see what I liked.

So going in I expected nothing but the most boring 50 minutes of music ever. Damn, was I wrong. I think this is the most an album has ever grown on me from first listen to second listen, this is REALLY good bro. The pop direction is cool as hell, and as everyone knows this was INSANELY influential, even more than I can even understand why to be ... read more

Kanye West - Graduation

Honestly this relisten just solidified that this album is overrated, bland and extremely boring. The deal is that, with the production he did pretty much the exact same vibes and sounds on every song, which is fine! If I liked it... yeah I don't, at ALL. Most of the songs are mixed to put the focus on the instrumentals too so.... I would literally take Barry Bonds and Homecoming from this album and GLADLY leave every other song behind. They're either flat out bad, or incredibly ... read more

Kanye West - Late Registration

Ok on relisten I kinda "get it" more but I'm still not that interested. I imagine this what people who don't like TCD that much think of it, as in it's too long and the songs aren't as captivating. I'm pulling songs out like Touch The Sky, Roses, Addiction, DFSL remix and Gone, stuff like that, but as a whole it's not anything crazy or mind blowing imo. It's really decent!

Kanye West - The College Dropout
98

I have minor issues with this album, like the story part of last call getting a little stale, and not being the hugest fan of tsome parts of Through The Wire and Get Em High, but overall this is unreal. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if I make this a 10 one day, but for now this is still one of the best rap albums I've ever listened to. It is something ELSE dude, easily the best of the trilogy and I don't know how anyone is arguing against that LMAO. Incredible.

I think I could genuinely listen to this at any single situation that could ever arise in my life. It just fits. It's so pure and full of love that it's so relaxing. By far the most happy and beautiful hip-hop album that I've ever listened to! The production is obviously the focal point of the album, using jazz and soul samples to create these ETHERAL instrumentals. Shing02's flows are perfect and I think his ... read more
