Daft Punk - Homework

I'd really love to know the thought process going into some of these vocal samples because GOD are some of them bad LMFAO. Teachers is just bad in production and vocals but Oh Yeah was RUINED by it. I also really just have to question the plan for some of the tracks, especially in the first half. Like they genuinely just go nowhere for a solid 5 minutes. Revolution 909 to Fresh is some of the blandest 20 minutes of electronic that I've ever heard. Da Funk is ALRIGHT but the other 3... ... read more

Can't be bothered to give a lecture on TOP so I'll go straight in. The production washes Tyler's vocals on an uncomfortable amount of places here, to the point where it genuinely unnerved me. Not to say his vocals are BAD, but they just feel so awkward sometimes?? It might also be just because the production is so damn good on this. Despite that, Tyler does do a really great job, some of my favourite tracks are more ... read more

Ahhh, Cross. The classic French electro house album! Wanted to get into more mainstream EDM and I figured I'd actually like this so I started here. Yeah, it's great bro. A lot of this album sounds super crunchy and it sounds so damn good. My main problem is that not a SINGLE track with vocals here is much good. Like genuinely I don't really like any of them. And considering that's like a good quarter of album... yeah my rating can't go THAT high. I have no idea how ... read more

4/25 of the first listen topster on my twitter @conorsdivision

What an album huh?! To me, swans is like THE quintessential "online" band. Obviously they are super old and whatever but in my head they've become synonymous with music discussion on the internet right? Usually people would go with Soundtracks For The Blind or To Be Kind to get into Swans, however this is the one that was recommended to me! I'm actually shocked to find myself on almost the same level of rating ... read more

Oh hey look it's like one of the best EDM compilation albums ever! Yeah deadmau5 and the mau5trap team were always really damn good at finding upcoming artists and shit. From silly gimmicks in Your Ad Here to the CATCHIEST of melodies in The Right Time, there isn't a single track here I don't like! Especially the two James Njie ones and the two Kairo Kingdom ones... actually peak music dude. Yeah this is absolutely amazing, give it a listen please.

DAMN is this good. Look maybe this is just generic indie rock but I HAVEN'T LISTENED TO THAT SO!! This is so damn good dude. It's definitely a bit front loaded but a couple tracks pull the energy right through until the closer. This is so damn fun, you could genuinely NEVER be bored listening I SWEAR. Solid vocals and writing, but the instrumentals... MAN they are so well done. They absolutely make the album and some of ... read more

Well that was something! Dude I honestly think my brain reset like half way through it, some of this shit was downright ATROCIOUS. But hey that oasis of good music in the middle was pretty cool!

With smooth beats and uplifting lyrics, this album puts you in a nice mindset. I feel like it falls short in a few ways for ME, but I totally understand why the user score for this is at a 77. To me there's just a few too many moments and tracks that fall a bit flat. Probably my biggest issue is a personal gripe with the mixing on the vocals. It's a bit of a nitpick but D2x is slightly too quiet on EVERY song which just ... read more

Los Campesinos! - All Hell

This is super solid and quite enjoyable new album from Los Campesinos! My score here lands it straight in with the other album from this group that I listened to, We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed, and yeah to me it holds up exactly with that standard. Now if you were a big fan of the genre, that standard would probably be REALLY good, like 8-9/10 level, but indie rock and midwest emo is always going to fall a LITTLE flat for me, ... read more

This is actually the first full length techno LP I've listened too, and yeah it's really good! I am honestly really bad at describing kind of ambient genres but this just sounds really nice. One part that stood out to me especially was EOL going haywire in the last 30 seconds, gives this album a really memorable ending! But yeah, my favourite track is definitely EOL just cus of the end and how solid the rest of the track is. The progression in these tracks is great and the sound ... read more

Thanks for my wonderful girlfriend for the recommendation! (2/3)

In the second installment of this mini series, she has managed to recommend me an album I absolutely love and one I absolutely hate! Yeah this is like if you targeted me with my least favourite type of music. I am not a lyrics guy. BARELY even a vocals guy if we're being completely honest with you. And this is >75 minutes of the dullest singing and instrumentals I have ever heard. I'm not even going to try and ... read more

Thank you to my amazing girlfriend for the recommendation!! (1/3)

Holy shit bro, I did not expect to like this as much as I did. Right at the end of the second listen, "metal vocals" completely stopped bothering and now like I don't love them I guess? But they do not exactly what they need to do and match the energy of the instrumentals so I'm happy with them. At it's core, this is a super cool blend of like dreamy, more shoegaze like songs and a (slightly bigger) ... read more

deadmau5 - mau5ville: Level 2

It's BETTER than Level 1 at least, again we have the whole "3 remixes" thing but at least they're spread across two songs and not all piled onto one song. I'll start with them. Chris Lorenzo's remix of drama free is... surprisingly ok? It feels very weird and like it shouldn't work but it's actually like alright. Both the Gallya and Monstergetdown remixes of GG are again... fine I guess? I mean I don't hate them but they are definitely very ... read more

deadmau5 - mau5ville: Level 1

As much as I like to glaze the shit out of deadmau5, this isn't good dude. Like let's think about it here, we start off with one amazing deadmau5 song. I lied. Not one, FIVE! 5/8 tracks on this album are monophobia. The original is AMAZING, Rinzen and Latroit remixes just completely ruin the song. ATTLAS one is less bad but still a skip every day of the week if I'm being honest.

SO, back to original songs! All Is Lost is actually a really good track, vocals are great, ... read more

deadmau5 - It Sounds Like

I MEAN LIKE come on, this almost feels like cheating! Compiling all his best A and B Sides from the past few years? Yeah, like it's GOING to be amazing there is no way of getting around it. This compilation was basically just made as a way to collect some deadmau5 songs into a convenient vinyl to buy. And yeah, it's great. I'm really bad at picking my favs and least favs from deadmau5 albums usually cus I always find stuff I love in all of them so I'm not gonna do that. ... read more

Checking in after 2 listens to say I wholeheartedly do not get the hype! There's something to be found here, but I'm REALLY not sure what it is. Like to me this is such an insane step back LSH but maybe it'll grow on me with time.

P.O - Satania's Diary

While the execution could be better here, I really appreciate what was tried here and the 80's influences are so clear and baked in. This doesn't shine brighter than in I Know You Know which I LOVE for how catchy and danceable it is, while still being sorta low and stripped back in places. I also love the other tracks for how dark and like techno influenced they are, some really nice sound design work on them. Really just an enjoyable little EP!

i LOVE this, really. As a person who knows a bit of Irish and hates how criminally underused and under-represented it is, KNEECAP are such a cool group to see. This album has some absolutey UNREAL bangers, I'm Flush is easily one of my favourite songs this year. And I really love the story presented here, which the short but unintrusive interludes really help to pull together. Maybe a bit biased cus I'm Irish but nah in generla, the production is great, delivery is great, writing is ... read more

ANOTHER GREAT ONE HERE. Man this dude does not miss with these little releases. Been slowly catching up on them and theyre so consistently insane. Like these are Saturation trilogy levels of releases right here. AMAZING SONGS, with beautiful and catchy melodies. Idk how to explain it but the clean and polished vibe all his songs have is just so damn satisfying to listen to. You really get it in the last track, New Eras. It's so upbeat and like genuinely mood-lifting. 6 Amazing tracks! Love ... read more

Another amazing release, technically the first off his little compilation series' but I got around to this one second. Yeah what do I say bro, i LOVE these songs! Run is probably the strongest one here for me, the break down at 3:20 is PHENOMENAL and everything else is amazing too! My only like stand out gripe with this release is the vocal sample in Loving You. It gets a bit grating on me personally, but I don't dislike it enough to not really like the song still.
