Absolute masterpiece. My favorite Tyler album yet. This shit mad fire.
This record just has so much going for it, but the first and most forefront thing I notice about this record is that it feels deeply personal to Tyler himself. Not to say that he hasn't done concept albums before, but Igor and Wolf were more about stories not necessarily about Tyler himself, whereas on Chromakopia, this record is specifically about Tyler himself and his life. Right off the bat with St. Chroma, the ... read more
REDUX REVIEW: Original Score: 43
Wow I really missed the mark on the first listen lmao. As far as what I didn't like this time around, I felt like Zone Out, Dance, and Last Real [N-word] Alive were kind of lackluster in comparison to the rest of the LP. I felt that these were some moments where the record kind of dragged, especially with Zone Out. Now onto my repentance for my previous score.
Yeah there is a lot more than just fucking Thugz Mansion (N.Y.) on this LP. Book of Rhymes ... read more
Coming in with a major switch up from his last LP, Tyler continues to bring the same quality to his albums, delivering another fantastic record here. The only song that I personally wasn't feeling was Juggernaut. Other than that, this record is really fucking good.
There aren't many people that are as multifaceted as one Tyler, the Creator, as on his quest to prove that he can do literally whatever the fuck he wants to, he brings us a hardcore, West-Coast Hip Hop record. While ... read more
A fantastic record here from Tyler, the Creator, absolutely worth the praise that it gets. The only song that I personally wasn't feeling was What's Good. Other than that, I have very little problems with this record.
There is just so many unique things going on with this record. First off, the lush production on songs like Earfquake and Are We Still Friends make for some incredible pop ballad bangers, but what I really love is the contrast between this style and the jarring and ... read more
Absolutely fantastic. The only song I didn't love was Bow Down just to get that out of the way. Other than that, I enjoyed every bit of this record.
Cameron Winter's vocals on this project are fucking insane, like it takes a lot of talent to pull off these songs in such a spectacular way with these kind of (for lack of better description) whinier vocal styles that he puts on. The dude just oozes talent throughout this project, making for a big reason for the success of this ... read more
I've found my other supremely underground album that I need to glaze. Zero fucking complaints. Zero fucking skips. Let's fucking go.
Right off the bat, these guys are absolutely killing it with 2 2 2, a song that right away let's me know that these guys are just not messing around this time. The incredibly artistic instrumentals throughout this record are just so addictive, it's absolutely incredible. There are so many bops on this record, with Fever, Give Up, and ... read more
A good, but not great album here from ASAP Rocky. As far as complaints, I feel that some of the beats were too overbearing on certain songs on the project. Also, while there are songs I really like on this project, there isn't really anything that is transcendent here in my opinion. While I haven't really had the same experience as some other Rocky fans, as i didn't necessarily wait 8 YEARS for this project considering that this is my first Rocky album I've heard, but I ... read more
Okay, I don't really have a formal review for this one, just know this shits really fuckin good.
This is an incredible album right here. As per usual with these kind of reviews, there are no complaints that I have about this album, so let's just dive into the review itself.
First off, I love the blend between the hardcore rock sound and the softer sections throughout this record. This blend is best exemplified in Look Down on Us, which is a song so good that the rest of the review could just be about that. I love the overarching message of the first verses being that the ... read more
A record that deserves every bit of the praise that it has gotten, this is an absolute masterpiece right here. There are no complaints with this record, I couldn't come up with one if I tried.
First off, the most apparent positive of this record is the delivery and lyrics throughout this project. Both Pusha and Malice just ooze confidence and charisma with every verse, bar, and line on this LP, like it sounds kind of cringe, but I cannot imagine a harder sounding album than this. Not ... read more
Major hot take here, but this record is an absolute masterpiece. Normally, I list out some complaints in this section, but there really aren't any, I mean this record is absolutely flawless.
Instrumentally, Pink Floyd is just decades ahead of their time. The way that the band seamlessly and effortlessly transitions to different musical ideas throughout a song like Time is a testament to the artistic and musical capabilities of the band members. The vocals are great, of course, but I ... read more
An incredible step up here with Flower Boy, truly one of the finest records that I have ever heard. The only song that I can say that I didn't thoroughly enjoy was I Ain't Got Time!, as other than that, I found some level of enjoyment in every part of this LP.
This record is so refreshing compared to the much tougher listens of Cherry Bomb and Goblin, as this LP just sounds so much more lush and vibrant compared to all of Tyler's past projects to this point. I love everything ... read more
A pretty mixed bag on this LP, being a small drop off in quality from Wolf. With some complaints, this is a very experimental record, and with that, there are clearly some experiments that went awry, such as with Keep Da O's or Cherry Bomb. Also, Run is a song that really doesn't even need to be on the record considering how short it is. This record is really up and down, with a good song being followed by a mediocre or bad one all throughout the project, as this LP lacks a good ... read more
Much improved from his last record, Tyler's Wolf is a much more coherent and well put together LP this time around. As far as some downsides with this LP, there are some occasional duds throughout this track list such as Cowboy or Trashwang. Also, there are some moments where you can tell Tyler is still ironing out this new more traditional rap style as opposed to the over the top diet Slim Shady bars he was dropping on Goblin.
With that being said, this is a good LP with a lot of ... read more
Good fucking lord boys this was a rough one. Okay for some positives, there's obviously Yonkers and She that are both pretty great songs, and the start of this record is actually pretty decent. Unfortunately, that's really where the praises of this record end for me personally.
Alright, to start off, the most obvious problem with this record is the lyrics. There is some edgy garbage that Tyler chose to spit all throughout this record, such as "I am tryna get Miss Piggy by the ... read more
A short, but great little EP from Dance a la Plage. Off the bat, my only real grievance with this record is just that I didn't personally like Matilda as much as the other four songs. Really, that's the only thing I have to say about this record in a negative light.
Dance a la Plage have a very easy sound to listen to, at least for me. I love their upbeat, yet soft style of rock that sounds elegant yet stylish. The songs on these record are just so fun to listen to, they really ... read more
Good, but this is the last Elton John record I listened to because I was bored of this sound and it seemed that this would be the last good Elton John record available to listen to.
