I know the joke that hardcore bands never change their sound is overused, but never has that sentiment been more prevalent than right now with this new Turnstile record. NEVER ENOUGH, SOLE and I CARE all sound like at least five songs from GLOW ON, with the last having an intro almost identical to UNDERWATER BOI. LOOK OUT FOR ME has moments identical to SHAKE IT UP but i find turnstile so likable and maybe it’s bias but i have such ... read more

I do not like to compare artists to SOPHIE because that’s an impossible job to fill. The state of pop music would not be what it is today without her, and when we lost her we lost an entire lifetime of fresh ideas. it’s been a very, very long time since I listened to something that reminded me of SOPHIE—not just in sound, but attitude and approach to making music. aya’s hexed! is the sound I ... read more

I do really like this album, and I missed this band so much, but I do feel The Scholars is missing a certain je ne sais quoi that Teens of Denial and Twin Fantasy had; it’s not as personal since it’s written from character perspectives and lacks the diversity found on past records. None of these songs are bad at all, but some didn’t leave a long impression on me like Gethsemane and CCF.
But!!!!!! I ... read more

Yawn. Only about 12 of these tracks are worth listening to and a third of those are solely because Kendrick Lamar is on it doing Kendrick Lamar stuff.
It’s just not fun. Carti sounds like Lil Yatchy the whole time and the features are the very unstable pillars to the world’s ugliest home.

This is my first time listening to this album in full probably since its release year, and I love it more now than I could've imagined. The synth-funk on this is a homerun. When it comes to Mac Miller, I try not to feel sad about that "What ifs" and what could've been regarding this direction in his sound- I'm just glad we got it and Miller was here for a time to see people love this sound.
my friend's awesome band is amazing and wasn't on here everyone start listening NOOOOOOOW. they recently just opened for Your Arms Are My Cacoon in Peoria, Illinois and always play cool sets I yearn for the midwest so I can one day see them....
I know this isn't Letterboxd, but David Lynch's impact reaches far beyond the screen for me. The music in all of his stuff- but especially Twin Peaks -changed my life forever. I always felt like a fucking loser in high school, an outcast from my friends who barely invited me to things. On nights when I was my most suicidal, most alone, most empty- I'd play this. Or I'd watch a Lynch film. At a time in your life where you feel so ostracized you think about committing suicide ... read more

IT IS 2025 AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON IN MY LIFE.
This has seemingly grown off of me over time. I still adore it, but I remember in high school listening to Kimochi Warui religiously. Weirdly enough, I'm drawn to the tracks I neglected listening to when I was younger, with Hey Space Cadet! now being one of my favorite Car Seat Headrest songs in terms of lyrics.

When I saw these titles, I gotta admit I was so scared of listening to some bullshit. But I like this!! I've been aware of who Lambrini Girls are for a while, but this debut is the first time I'm listening to a project in full. The guitars on this thing are killer; the really distorted and intense riffs on ... read more
REST IN PEACE LACY SMITH. Lacy was one of the most talented people in the NJ DIY scene and it's still really hard to even talk about. I find listening to these songs really difficult, but I'm glad Gabba Ghoul finally has a live version up so people can understand what this band was like live. Really amazing stuff, and Lacy had one of the most special, beautiful voices I've ever heard.
It breaks my heart to think we'll never get a new release from this band, but I'm ... read more

I knew I was so back when I kept seeing Tiktok screenshots on Twitter of people with the display name like "Elizabeth (Taylor's Verison)" complaining about how this album sounds nothing like American Teenager.
This rocks. It's super noisy and weird, but the parts where Ethel Cain sings are gorgeous, making the very sparse use of it more impactful. I love the moments of buildup on tracks like Punish and Onanist that ... read more

Do you know how good of an artist you have to be for your little Spotify Sessions live EP to have versions of amazing songs that actually rival the original?? I think The Ending of Dramamine and Times to Die on this are just as and sometimes even better than the originals. I entered a weird stupor this year and only listened to this version of The Ending of Dramamine for like 72 hours...so worth it

Very lucky I got to experience Car Seat Headrest during this leg of the tour they recorded this on. It's really hard to capture that magic the band has live, and I think Commit Yourself Completely does it amazingly.

I really hate writing about albums that have been written about to death. I'm not a great writer, and I'm sure enough users and critics have expressed the same things I feel in a more adequate way over the past six years.
But I can write about how this album changed my life. I was 15 and would listen to the original version on the bus to school every day when this came out. I didn't want to admit this at the time, but he made ... read more
making a list where i rank will toledo's projects and I never include singles but I did just want to mention I think this is a perfect song which is crazy because I think the album version is also perfect. I could not tell you which is better; I love the bluesy guitar on this and his vocals to match it.
Also that interlope of the Plane Crash Blues lyrics is just genius....And if you run out of drugs, you can sleep without 'em, I know you can....And if you want to go home, you can ... read more
