Jessica Pratt is three apples tall and lives in a tree stump with a family of rabbits and spends her time making them little bunny shoes out of weaved leaves and sticks and every few years, someone sticks a microphone in the tree stump for like two hours and this is what it sounds like inside.

This thing is so fucking weird, and I love it.
Only recently found out about Mamaleek once I heard they would be opening at the Chat Pile show I was going to and I wish I found them a lot earlier. This is the type of strange, jazz-rock, balls-to-the-walls experimental stuff I love. Don't know much about this band, but no one really does, but I adore the lead singer's voice. It's very rough and gross and kinda sounds ... read more
Spotify told me in my wrapped I listened to this song 74 times in one day.
My favorite songs of 2024 are like. a dead toss-up between this, Sometimes by Mannequin Pussy and Toxin Dodger by Lip Critic. But seriously. You can hold me. Like he held her. And I will fuck you. Like nothing matters.

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Street Fighter
Ok well my roommate wrote the Pitchfork review for this so my swag's been stolen kinda like I can't say anything that hasn't already been written.
Pom Pom Squad is one of my favorite artists. Mia Berrin's last album, Death of a Cheerleader, knocked my socks off and I quickly fell in love with her amazing (yet very small) discography. I loved her dreamy vocals over these really earnest, well-written indie songs ... read more

“‘Who do we think we are to be doing this here; now?’” Phil Elverum, the singular force behind Mount Eerie, wonders on “Demolition.”It’s an invasive and provoking question that he dissects throughout “Night Palace,” compelling listeners–and himself–to confront the dissonance between day-to-day survival and a political landscape that feels perpetually on ... read more

FAVORITE TRACK: sleep tight
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: None
Thank you for recommending this, Dalton; I'm a huge fan. The build-up on these tracks are some of the best I've heard in emo this year. radiation cooling (放射冷却) and sleep tight swell to these overwhelmingly beautiful guitar riffs that I can't get enough of. I especially love the instrumentals Acle brings to this; their very twinkly sounding guitar creates these really pretty and captivating intros that hook you ... read more

They're calling her Clairokah Badu on twitter....
Really beautiful, laid-back little record. I've always loved Cliaro's voice but haven't found myself enchanted by a full release, only certain songs, up until now. This bedroom jazzy-pop sound she delivers on Charm is so endearing, so unique and suits her perfectly.
FAVORITE TRACK: Purple Roses
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Maybeee Twelve Dollar Snickers?
Love my country New Jersey🦅❤️🤍💙
Killer guitar riffs on this whole thing; this is the best the band has ever sounded, and they really outdid themselves with the lyrics. In 2021, when I was around 18 and small house shows started coming back, I went and saw Ogbert the Nerd alone in someone's crappy basement in New Brunswick like five times over the summer- this band will always have a special ... read more
FAVORITE TRACK: The Calm That Keeps You Awake
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Piece By Piece
I respect and think some of the stuff they’re doing on here fucking rules, but this album just confirmed that Knocked Loose is not a sound for me unfortunately. I will keep coming back to this, though; i will train myself to like it eventually.
FAVORITE TRACK: Nothing Matters
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Beautiful Boy
And you can hold me…like he held her…and I will fuck you like nothing matters…what the hell
FAVORITE TRACK: Zeitgeist
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Connla's Well
Big fan of this. Lead singer has a super weird voice that pairs in a very enigmatic way with the more orchestral instruments on each track. I love post-punk with a saxophone and a freak so this was made for me.
FAVORITE TRACK: Motorbike Song

EDIT: It's published now everyone prepare to be happy: https://thepacepress.org/12520/arts/music/the-pace-press-25-best-albums-of-the-year/
This rules so hard. I am a sucker for any album that touches on what it's like to be a woman in this godforsaken scene, and I think Amy Taylor voices the main issues so well. This is another album I wrote an official review for school (which I will link when it's ... read more

LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Arp Omni
I really, really wished I liked this more than I did. I just never find myself going back to it or thinking about it. I do enjoy Xiu Xiu's more upbeat, pop stuff, but I found this one a little boring, and I really hope it'll grow on me over time.
FAVORITE TRACK: Sympathy is a knife featuring ariana grande
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Mean girls featuring julian casablancas
Said I wasn't gonna review the deluxe version but this is very very different. BB Trickz you'll always be famous to me and I'm not kidding...
I don't really find myself going back to this as often as the original; I think it has a lot to do with me not being a huge fan of a lot of the featured artists here. However, despite being out for so long, I ... read more
FAVORITE TRACK: Girl, so confusing (and Guess but I'm not doing a separate review for the deluxe version with three songs)
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: I might say something stupid
Never wrote a review about this this year because I feel my thoughts are very redundant. However, I did move to Bushwick this summer and I feel like I lived through a very interesting point of history by living in the gay capital of the world during brat summer.
FAVORITE TRACK: As if Waltz
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: None
As if Waltz simultaneously being one of the most romantic songs I've ever heard while also being one of the dumbest because he just had to get all cuckold with it is the true duality of man and actually perfectly explains this album.
FAVORITE TRACK: Scorsese Baby Daddy
LEAST FAVORITE TRACK: Drive
Not sure if the fact that this is a deluxe edition is putting people off from listening to it, but this is far and away the best thing SZA's ever released. LANA is the length of an album- 14 tracks and 1 intermission -and rivals all the original tracks on SOS. The synthy, dream-pop production on this is out of this world and pairs perfectly with SZA's voice to make something truly enchanting here. Magic happens when she ... read more
