Black midi’s new record defied and still defies my expectations at every listen.
Although I appreciate the more improvisational elements of their first record, the new approach to songwriting taken in this album produces more meditated, well-structured and embellished pieces with a stunning amount of complexity at times without leaving behind any of the chaotic energy the band is known for.

It is inescapable, songs like the title track, Heartland and Sweet bird of truth haunt me with no end. This album is filled with good songwriting that is pared up with a very solid performance by the vocalist that allways leave me wanting to listen to it again.

Honestly one of the most amazing pieces of art I have been able to enjoy.
This is probably one of my favorite hip hop albums. The beats are insane and Danny raps over them flawlessly while delivering manic vocals while dropping great bars.
My favorite song on the record is downward spiral. I know this might be an unpopular opinion but I think it is an amazing opener filled with one-liners and Danny’s spoken word like vocal inflection makes it stand out to me as a very notable moment in the record as well as a good preview to what is about to come.
