Kinda the same with self-titled. Kurt was the piece that made this sound work. Without him I can't get behind DGD.
This is my favorite DGD album and that's mostly to do with Kurt. Kurt is a very good vocalist with some pretty solid independent work. The iconic DGD songs for me are all on this.
Never been that big into Whitechapel but I do like The Saw is the Law even if it is kinda cringe.
Not Dan's best but it is beautiful. The mix between acoustic and digital sounds is done very well. I think this was an album he made for himself in a way based on how different this is from his normal sound but I fuck with it heavy.
I love the island feeling of Burn.
Somewhat disappointing follow-up considering it was 4 years after self-titled and its such a change of pace. That being said I would kill for another project from Jimmy.
A friend showed me this and its really good. Down the Line is a go to sunny day song.
I mean, this was one of the first Midwest Emo albums I heard. I remember exactly where I was when Fingers played on my Pandora in late 2014. It might not be the best but man did this impact me in a way I never would have imagined at the time.
Thank you Jimmy!
Overthinking and Drunk again are the highs for me on this. Its ok
Not gonna comment on the old drama here because I forgor it and couldn't find it. The song is still really good tho.
Lover is a Day was so overplayed (by me) in high school and I still fucking adore it 8 years later. The rest of the album is mostly whatever but that song... that one song is such a banger It holds up the rest.
Sometimes I really like feeling happy. This helps. Idk how else to explain it, Great Big Blue is just a joyful album.
Overlooked blackgaze. I really enjoy this project even if it can be a little unfocused at times. The Silver Flower duo of tracks are really good.
I am very surprised this only has (as of writing) 92 ratings. This album is fun, some is dated, but overall a great listen. This would be an album that I would assign a "Should listen at some point" label to.
