I tried to give this a chance, but it really just feels like B-sides to their last album, Put The Shine On. It doesn't feel like they've evolved in any way since then, and generally I am okay with artists sticking to their lane and doing the same sort of things over and over, but they have to at least keep the quality up, and they just don't here- the songs here are nowhere near as engaging to me as Put The Shine On, with the exception of Cut Stitch Scar, which I find to be a ... read more
I'm generally quite satisfied with this. I would say there's one song I really like (Petite Etoile) and one song I really dislike (The Piano & the Violin, which is really just an intro track instead of a song (but it's awful)), and everything else is just pretty solid. Not my favourite Polo & pan release, that still easily remains caravelle. But I find it to be a step up from cyclorama, so that is nice!
Good stuff! Birthday is genuinely fucking moving I was not expecting that, but it's absolutely gorgeous. Princess and Single Right Now are both dancey fun badass lose yourself tracks that you don't have to think about too hard. Both are fun as hell. Stay Where You Are is also particularly moving, insanely great lyrics there imo, and a very powerful message. I am also partial to Disgusted, I just think it's fun. Everything else is generally pretty solid too, but those 5 are the ... read more
This is very messy, but still a solid experience. "lost and found" and "familia" are the easy two standouts here.
Pretty solid EP. Last two songs, "Restoration Lake" and "XNOR XNOR XNOR" are for sure the standouts.
This was excellent! I admit, I wasn't expecting to enjoy this very much. I quite liked AURORA's recent album, so I wanted to try out her other stuff, and I had heard mixed reviews of this album from my friends, but I can certifiably say that my expectations were passed! The energy a lot of the songs on this album was insanely enticing to me, particularly on the songs "running with the wolves" and "murder song 5 4 3 2 1". Beyond that, the rest of the songs were also ... read more
Wow, it's not often that I get this into straight up techno albums, but this is REALLY really good! "Public Psychodelic Service" is the masterpiece here in my opinion, this is like a weird ass industrial techno track that just sounds SO good and goes so crazy, but everything else on here is really good as well. Despite being TWENTY FOUR SONGS LONG, it really manages to hook me for basically that entire runtime with a lot of really interesting ideas. Beyond "Public ... read more
It's decent enough. Certainly not her best material, and a step down from her last 2 albums, but still fairly enjoyable
This is a pretty good industrial/idm album! Not as good as Vessel's other stuff but he's got a pretty consistent discography I'd say. Favourite here would be "Court Of Lions", that thing has a super fun beat and a lot of interesting sounds. I also quite like "Lache", "Scarletta", and "Plane Curves". Overall a pretty good album.
GFOTY has always been a really funny artist especially in the context of PC Music. She makes the goofiest most ridiculous music I've ever heard in my life, and while usually I really do not like it, I can't deny she's made a couple of absolutely bangers in the past, with "Poison" being probably the crowning jewel of her music for me. So, coming into this album, I really had no expectations for what I would find. And what this is is... certainly interesting! There are ... read more
I tried. This does have some nice beats, but it doesn't really do anything interesting with them! And some of the songs especially in the middle section are just not fun at all. Tusi En El Pussy in particular is just. So bad to me. Overall a miss
You know what? I don't care if hyperpop is out of style, cause I love this! I've been a fan of Gupi for years now, so I was pretty excited after seeing this come out, and it pretty much lived up to expectations! It's really nice to just have some music that you can completely turn your brain off to and just enjoy it in the moment. "computerpunk" is ABSOLUTELY my favourite on this thing, this thing goes hard as hell, the beat is insane. "dumb ways to die" is a ... read more
OKAY. THIS IS. A LOT. But man, this thing absolutely SLAPS. Like, I've never listened to ANY of the artists on this compilation before, but despite that it seriously gripped the hell out of me, like I am intensely interested in everything this album has to offer. This is like, EXACTLY where I want to see the deconstructed club genre go. Let me try to go through the various songs.
I first found this album through the song "There Is Something I Can't Find", which was shouted ... read more
This was really really nice! I'm not used to listening to music this old, and honestly when I first heard a song from this album, I didn't actually expect it to be this old! It's really solid synth pop that I think has aged pretty well!
This thing is fantastic. It's a certain vein of industrial music with booming beats that strike your soul, and a very emotional/harrowing sound to it. I first heard of Vessel in 2020 with the song "Red Sex" which instantly captivated me for its dry, intensely industrial sound to it. Despite instantly striking me, it took me another half a decade until now to actually listen to the rest of the album, and I gotta say, it absolutely holds up!!
DPM is my favourite song here, the ... read more
Hm. You know what, I am fascinated by this! The sound design on this is pretty great and intense. It's a certain vein of industrial music that feels similar to tribal warriors of some sort, and I think that is exactly what it was going for, considering Kazuki Koga's background growing up in the mountainous areas of Nepal and India. It really has that intense, almost desolate feeling to it, and I quite enjoy it! Very good stuff.
*SIGH*
This was one of my most anticipated albums of the year. I was really really looking forward to it, Baths past works on his solo project Baths had been just steadily been getting better and better. Romaplasm and Pop Song B Sides 2 I both really really adored. The stuff he had been putting out on his other accounts, specifically the bee and puppycat soundtrack had been great, and the odd singles here and there had been good, so I was heavily anticipating this for a while now. And ... read more
This is pretty good. I can definitely see this as a start to a very fun and fascinating discography, it has the same vibes to me as Sega Bodega's earlier work and he grew to produce some of the greatest stuff in this genre I've ever heard, so I'm excited to see where she goes as well!
This is a fairly nice album! I think sometimes the singing gets a tad bit stale, but she generally has a pretty voice. The beats also are really cool, they're very... unsteady feeling. Like, slightly chaotic, but still calming at the same time, it's a weird mix that actually serves the album very well. The pinnacle of this to me would be the song "Michin", the beat here is SOOOO STRANGE but so damn cool. Overall solid project and I'm excited to see what yaeji has in ... read more
