This is just a huge flex album and after IGOR Tyler makes it work.
Not like I had any hoes to begin with, but now I'm definitely dying alone.
This kind of music exploded somewhere in mid 2010s, but this was released in 2003... crazy. Way, way, way ahead of it's time. RIP king.
Everytime I listen to The Adults Are Talking I end up listening to it at least 5 times. Literally a perfect track.
The rest are pretty good too.
You know that reaction image of Dio from Jojo going "I've seen enough. I'm satisfied."? Well that was me after this album.
It's good. It didn't blow me away or make me The Murder Capital's stan but it definitely wasn't bad. Maybe a bit more 'spice' was needed? Anyway, going to keep an eye out once their next project comes along.
I wanted to review The New Abnormal but felt it was unfair without reviewing the 'quintessential' Strokes album first. Happy to say, it still slaps.
I dunno. Everything besides Take Me Out and This Fire is painfully mid or just 'OK'. Maybe this would've left a better impression like 10 years back but as a first listen now, it didn't do much for me sadly.
It's decent, just not something very unique or interesting. One of those albums you'll forget in a week and when you remember think "Oh that one, yeah I guess it was alright."
One of the best album openers I've ever heard. Besides that, an amazing conscious hip hop album. Some songs I'm lukewarm about but the rest elevate the whole experience so much that I don't mind it at all.
It's good and I can definitely appreciate the quality in most parts. The 'crunchy' mixing sometimes works but a lot of times I have to remind myself it's by design and my headphones aren't going out. Yes yes, that's the point but sometimes less is more.
One of the most relatable and vulnerable albums I've ever heard. "GONE, GONE / THANK YOU". I need to single this track out because it perfectly captures the 'moment' you truly feel like you got over someone. Did you though? Who's to say. Some wounds heal over time, some turn to scars you forget about for a while.
I don't see it as a vast improvement to the previous two albums as some people claim to be. It's still good but for me it's Vampire Weekend 3 and at this point all the albums are starting to melt together a bit. Some fun bangers, a couple songs that border on being annoying drivel and the lyrics that are equivalent to the nerd emoji (though maybe a bit better this time around). You know what you're going to get with this one.
Bad ideas suffers from putting all of its heavy hitters in the first half of the album. Everything after "Games" (except maybe "Wishful Drinking") feels less consistent and fun.
It's a decent album, just not something I'd myself return to. The aren't many lows, but the highs aren't very high either.
