Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
90

I’ve heard a lot of praise about this being one of the best rock albums of the 90s, so I’m deciding to give this a listen especially since it’s only 6 songs. This is the final album from the band Talk Talk and hopefully it’s as good as people say it is.

Myrrhman is an incredible opener to the album. The overall atmosphere of this one is gorgeous and I love the guitar harmonies on this one. Also, Mark Hollis’ vocals on this track are beautiful and really display ... read more

Rush - Moving Pictures
90

Prog Rock is a genre that I haven’t dived that deeply towards, so I’m decided to finally get into a band that gets a lot of praise in this genre and that’s Rush. I’m gonna be starting off with their most critically acclaimed album, “Moving Pictures” since I’ve seen a lot of people giving this one positive scores, so let’s see if this is worthy of the hype.

Tom Sawyer is an incredible track to kick off the album. Everything from the riffs to the ... read more

Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me
90

After listening to “Mount Eerie” and loving it, I’m finally gonna be listening to what’s considered to be one of the saddest albums of the 2010s and that’s the 2017 album, “A Crow Looked at Me”. I know the subject matter of this album is gonna be about the passing of Phil Elverum’s wife which is a really heavy topic, so even though it feels weird to review an album that’s talking about death, I still want to give this a listen considering ... read more

The Microphones - Mount Eerie

I recently just gave “The Glow, Pt. 2” a relisten and it became a 10 for me, so now I’m gonna be checking some of Phil’s other albums starting off with “Mount Eerie”. I’ve heard a lot of great things about this one, so let’s see how it stacks up.

“I. The Sun” is a 17 and a half minute opener and man, what a way to kick off the album. The first 2 minute start off with the same riff that you heard throughout “The Glow, Pt. ... read more

The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
100

I wanted to check out another indie rock essential with The Glow, Pt. 2. So I’ve seen some people giving this one positive scores, so I wanted to see if this one is any good or not. Now that I’ve listened to this one all the way through, I can safely say that this is an amazing experience. The production is fantastic and makes me feel like I’m like walking in nature and Phil Elverum’s performance is beautiful and amazing.

Tears for Fears - Songs from the Big Chair
90

This is an album that I’ve been wanting to check out for a while now so me I’ve heard the big hits of this record and really enjoyed them, so now I wanna check out the rest to see if they stack up to the hits.

Shout is an incredible opener to the album. The production is amazing with the nice atmosphere and I love how intense it gets near the end with that amazing guitar solo. This song pretty much seems to be about protesting and how it implies that you should be taking action and ... read more

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
90

I was originally gonna save this as the last Swans album I listened to, but because so many people praise this one and even call it their magnum opus, I just couldn’t wait any longer and have to give this one a listen even if it’s maybe not ideal. Anyway, this is their longest album with over 2 hours and 20 minutes of material, so let’s see how if this album really is as amazing people say.

“Red Velvet Corridor” is a beautiful and transcending opener. The ... read more

Swans - To Be Kind
100

Yep, I’m finally gonna be reviewing this 2 hour long album. This is an album I’ve always wanted to try out, but always put it off because of how long this album is. Like, I’ve heard that this is one of the best albums that came out in the 2010s and even Anthony Fantano gave this album a 10 so I just had to see for myself. So after listening to this whole album, I can safely say that this is one of the most unsettling and chaotic albums I’ve ever heard. The production is ... read more

Lingua Ignota - SINNER GET READY
100

So, this is an album I’ve been wanting to revisit for a while since I listened to this back in December of 2023 since Fantano gave this one a 10 and I had to try it out, but my previous review was poorly written (which I could say about all my old reviews), but anyway, I’m deciding to give this one a better review and just to see if it will grow on me. Now that I’ve listened to it all the way through, I can safely say that is has, but now to the point that I actually think ... read more

Father John Misty - Pure Comedy

Hey guys, I’ve finally gotten the itch to listen to some music again since I took a break from this app for almost a month now since I just got burnt out on listening to anything, but now I’m finally gonna be putting out some reviews and I’ll be starting the year off with Pure Comedy by Father John Misty. He recently put out an album last year, but I never listened to it, but I did wanna listen to his 2017 album since I’ve heard a lot of great things about this one and I ... read more

Björk - Vespertine
100

So, I’m deciding to revisit this album since I originally gave this a 10 and then listened to Homogenic after this and I just couldn’t decide which is better, so I wanted to see if this one is better. Now that I’ve listened to it all the way through, I can safely say that this is probably my favorite album from Björk so far. The production is beautiful and mind blowing and Björk’s performances is just on another level on here.

Metallica - Kill 'Em All

I’ve listened to RTL, MOP, and AJFA, and now we’re taking a step backwards into Metallica’s debut album over here. The only song I’ve listened to on here is Seek & Destroy which I enjoyed and this is also their shortest album since most of the songs on here are around 4 minutes which is unusual for Metallica since they like to make their songs last for like 5-8 minutes. But anyway, I decided to listen to this debut to see if it stacks up to the other albums and I ... read more

Metallica - ...And Justice for All
75

This is an album that I’ve been wanting to revisit for a while, but never got around to it, so I’m finally deciding to listen to it now. Now, this album doesn’t have any bass on the album because at this time, Metallica’s bassist, Cliff Burton, passed away after they released Master of Puppets and then Jason Newsted joined the band and he got treated so badly by the band that they didn’t even let him play any base. But anyway, I wanted to revisit this album since ... read more

Daft Punk - Homework
80

I wanted to give a better review for this album since it’s been a while since I’ve listened to Daft Punk’s debut. When I first heard it, I found it disappointing compared to Discovery because since I listened to that album first, this one just felt more simplistic in comparison. Plus, some of the songs didn’t do much for me, but now that it’s been a couple of months, I decided to give this album a revisit to see if I find it more enjoyable. Now that I’ve ... read more

Pink Floyd - Animals

I’ve already done a review, but it wasn’t that great, so I’m gonna be doing a revisit on this album. When I first listened to it, I gave it a 10, so I wanted to see if I still consider it a perfect album. Now that I’ve listened to it all the way through, I can safely say that this is still just as great as DSOTM. The production is amazing and beautiful and the vocals are just on another level here.

Metallica - Ride the Lightning

Since I’ve done better reviews for Master of Puppets and Justice For All, I decided to do the same with Ride the Lightning which is gonna turn 40 years old this year in July. Which I will probably end up doing another review of this album when that comes around. Which even though I prefer MOP over this one, this album was a massive improvement on their debut album. Like, the production was better, and even James Hetfield’s vocals on this album were improved as well.

Suicide - Suicide

So, this album is on Rolling Stone’s top 500 and since it’s really short, I had to check it out to see if it’s really that great. This album came out in the 1970s and is ranked pretty much all the way at the bottom and after listening to this whole album, I can safely say that this album should’ve been erased from existence. The fact that it’s on the list is just a crime against humanity. The production is absolutely garbage and the vocals are some of the worst ... read more

Kanye West - Yeezus

This is an album I’m deciding to give a revisit since so many people give this album a very high review whereas when I first reviewed it, I gave it a low score because I thought it was overrated. So, I wanted to see if this one will grow on me and now that I’ve listened to it all the way through, I can safely say that I still think it’s overrated. The production is a bit rough around the edges and Kanye’s performance isn’t exactly the best on this album.

JAY-Z - Reasonable Doubt

Tbh, I just wasn’t too big into this one. Like, some people will say this is one of the best hip hop albums of all time, but honestly I think it’s overrated because for me, I’m just not a big fan of the beats on this album. But the reason why I went to this one first is because this is Jay Z’s debut album and I wanted to see the evolution of him as an artist and I think he’s probably gonna get better with the Blueprint and The Black Album. So, in conclusion, ... read more

Olivia Rodrigo - SOUR

This is a good debut album for Olivia. Like, my favorite songs on this album are brutal, drivers license, and good 4 u. However, I do feel like there was definitely improvements to be made here since the production can be a bit bland and also the sad songs on the album kind of sound the same from each other. But other than that, pretty good album.
