C’mon people its not that bad, there are some good songs here. Azizam has a cool groove to it. Sure it’s a typical Ed Sheeran album and gets to be a bit much to try to listen to cover to cover, but there are some good things here. The Vow for one is a beautiful song with great lyrics. Are there no married folks reviewing this album or engaged peeps? It would make a perfect wedding song!
A bit of an underrated diamond in the rough. Plenty of alt rock bangers like Taste, American Nights & English Mornings and Animal. But make no mistake, the headline and closer here is Vanilla, an alternate version to their 2022 single. Toss in a throwback oldie sounding slow vibe, Call Me On Your Comedown, and you have a making of a great album that keeps you guessing with some unique sounds, like the near Arabian sounding at times, Trouble in the Neighborhood. Definitely had to let ... read more
Modern church, title track, kicks off sounding like an 80’s breakdancing movie. That’s not necessarily a great thing, but unfortunately, it’s the highlight. The rest is just kind of a hot mess of heavy synth electronic with subpar vocals. I only listened to this because one critic reviewed 90 score at the time. Said critic mentioned seeing them live so maybe a friend or groupie? Save your time!
Step down from their last album, Leisurevision. “The Colour of the Sound” is pretty cool. Sundown and Diamonds are nice smooth tracks. Didn’t care for it too much first listen through. Came back to it and caught the slower groove.
Instant classic and must own on vinyl if that’s your thing! Side project from Jungle’s J Lloyd and Lydia Kitto. The album brings chill retro 50’s vibes and turns them ultra cool. They can call it Loaded Honey, but it has Jungle written all over it, just a more stripped down slower version and of course it’s missing Tom McFarland. It does have a romantic theme, hence the title, “Love Made Trees.”. Just an absolutely beautiful album start to finish. If I ... read more
Groovy! This is the kind of jazz I can get behind. Great background or to focus and relax.
At times some of this sounded like a more emo version of The Strokes, with more electronic beats on some tracks. The first track, As I Watch My Life Online, is amazing! It’s a fresh experimental jam, the kind that grabs you and makes you want to listen over and over. Day 2 is another rockin’ banger. Then something happens, the album turns into kind of a lame forgettable indie rock album until Terabyte. Then we see the magic come back for that one track, more cool experimental ... read more
A stripped down bedroom chill kinda album. Gets off to good start with leadoff track Shining. There’s just that tiny little soft groove there to nod your head to. That disappears on the next 6 tracks (rock and roll is ok), which left me nearly nodding off and nearly giving up on the album. But then it came back on track 8, Nothing At All, and I slow grooved the rest of the album. Nice! Not a huge fan of the vocal.
The title track is a neat little song, the rest if this is kinda lame. Sure it’s unique, but does that make it really good or special? I find a number of the songs to be a bit monotonous, like electronica boringonica, is that a word?
I like what they did on Environmental Catastrophe Film. Album could use more in that direction. Otherwise largely overrated emo screamo.
Saw a 92 user rating (only two user reviews at the tiime) so I had to give it a whirl! Reviewed by their parents? A slowcore snoozer except for the fact once in a while it wakes me up! Dull, boring, just let me sleep!
Cheery happy folk pop with some nonsense and a splash of serious. End of the World and Your Nonsense Makes Sense are the two best tracks. They are great and will hit some playlists of mine. The rest is ok to cheesy at times. Quicksand is decent showing more of their serious side and Sayonara is pretty good on the fun side. Tiki Bar Queen is kinda cute and nonsense.
Cause everyone needs a great indie girl rock album once in awhile and this one delivers the perfect blend of cute, cozy, heartfelt and occasionally just enough edge. It jumps right on you with the outstanding leadoff title track. It pulls at your heartstrings with Mother Pray to Me. It closes strong on a happier, more upbeat note, with My Best Laid Plans. Wonderful album!
Overrated, run of the mill, songwriter album with no real highlights. Not terrible, but nothing special. Blah!
Overall, feels like a bit of a letdown from their last album, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons. It’s pretty solid, but I don’t love it. Filled with in your face garage rock and few standout tracks. Path of Most Resistance is awesome, followed by Legalize Living and Hooray Hooray Hooray.
There is a very strong 4-6 song EP here. Eighteen track LP? Not so much. There’s still plenty to like here. Discovery Channel is a masterpiece! It’s an interpolation of Bloodhound Gang’s 1999 “The Bad Touch”, which didn’t hold up well over time, but Hayley spins it into her own new original web. Other standouts are Ice in my OJ, Kill Me and Hard.
If you ever wanted to take a stab at falling asleep to a heavy rock album, this is your ticket to dreamland!
It’s like RAD elevator music you can’t stop listening to. And no one has used the phrase RAD in 40+ years. It keeps you just wanting more and more. Absolutely beautiful album and must own on vinyl!
