I feel that this was a little underwhelming coming back from their previous album Take Me Back To Eden. Definitely more vibes and pop influence which some of the tracks landed and some underwhelmed. It was still a pleasurable listening experience but left me wanting more out of this record that I didn't feel with Take Me Back To Eden.
Not as strong as Starting Over but man this packs a punch. White Horse is one of the best country rock adjacent tracks in years
Really liked the experimentation and differentiation of sounds here. Code Orange prove that they're more than just a brutal metalcore band
This is very good metalcore, Spiritbox are slowly becoming one of the giants in this burgeoning genre. They're up there with BMTH and Bad Omens for me
Olivia really needs to bring back Lilith Fair to make this really full circle
From first track the horns are great and this is great piece of psychedelic rock. The guitars go hard and the vocalist is very passionate. Ooh Flutes too, are we Jethro Tull??? This is fantastic. The ORGAN, Let's goooooooooo!!!!!!!!! This is the most shocking 5 star album I've given but this was one of the easiest. One of the 60s hidden gems.
To premise everything, I'm doing the 1001 album project and the album I got today was Sonic Youth Daydream Nation so if comparisons are made then so be it. I know this won't be that but it's an interesting experiment I decided to conduct. All American Bitch feels very like a more mature Avril Lavigne. In All Honesty, Olivia has made better music than Avril in her prime. Olivia's evolution is great. I love Bad Idea Right? The Kim Deal Influence is all over this. I hear Breeders all over this. ... read more
This album to me from track one seems to be about atmosphere. Teen Age Riot has a rebellious and free atmosphere that carries the song for 7 minutes which is hard for punk. One of the best opening tracks to an album ever. Silver Rocket continues this major guitar tone and the freedom that Teen Age Riot started. This is my first time listening to any Sonic Youth and my mind is being blown by the guitar sounds. The tone of these guitars are excellent. The Sprawl has these abrasive lyrics and ... read more
Blonde’s seminal album with such hits as Heart of Glass and One Way or Another. Has that CBGB attitude with those great pop hooks. The guitar tone on this album is second to none. Debbie Harry sounds great too. Love how this album is fast and loud too.
Zach Bryan and this on the same day lol!!!! This is an improvement on everything Brave Faces was. The synth elements add so much. My god this band is scary good now. I could not in good consciousness introduce someone who's not into emo into Brave Faces, I could with No Joy. I get it Brave Faces was special, but this is a whole new animal. I threw a 100 rating on not 1 but two albums released on the SAME DAY, this is rare folks.
Edit: Album shrunk on me a bit since first listening to it and ... read more
Realistic, Oklahoman, Emo, Philly, and Love all combined, this is amazing. I threw 100 ratings out on 2 AOTYs and they took over two very special albums in the Foo Fighters and Sleep Token albums. Both Spanish Love Songs and Zach Bryan are voices of a generation, we should start listening to the wise. Maybe it's not Nirvana but Zach has IT and Spanish Love Songs have IT.
The perfect sad boy country album. I just relate to this thing
Their most impactful project since Wasting Light, Foo Fighters bring to light their grief and Loss in such a meaningful and impactful way
Synyster Gates and Brooks Wackerman saves this from being a trainwreck. The guitar work is good and the drumming is interesting. The rest is garbage
This project is an emotional rollercoaster that resonates with an older and mature audience gripping with adult realities. If you're not past a lot of your childish behaviors and actions or know that they're there, this album won't resonate with you.
Favorite Tracks: Salt Water, Life Goes On, Curtains, Dusty, The Hills of Aberfeldy
Least Favorite: Eyes Closed
This Sleep Token band might be the real deal. The scope of sounds and atmosphere they get out of this album is insane.
This album is almost like a zen album for me. I think the band almost didn't get too metallic here but had great britpop elements that solidified this being my favorite PT album. Last Chance is my favorite track from this album as it showcases Steven Wilson's genius very well. I just inexplicably love this album because of how peaceful it is but it's not really
