Was enjoying until the vocals kicked in. Buried underneath the screamo vocals is some pretty good production and arrangement, but I just cannot take the music seriously when the whiplash from the vocals and the melody song-to-song is enough to rip my head off
-Shows up out of nowhere
-Drops hardest Dance album of the year
-Refuses to elaborate
Maybe, everything IS going to be alright.
"Details" tells you to live life to the fullest, and to do what makes you happy. Frou Frou only made one album together, but it captures the sound and essence of the 2000's perfectly. The quality of the music exists far outside of the time of it's creation, though; a timeless piece of music in all its warmth and atmosphere
I'm not sure if they've been stellar, but this album (almost) is
Grimy, dirty, edgy, please re-hire them at the haunted waterpark
very much an "in-the-moment-I-enjoyed-it" experience. It's very pleasant listening, with some relaxing vocals and soothing instruments
Retro music revivalism done RIGHT. Literally just a non-stop fun time with groovy production and amazing vocal performances from Remi.
I have a feeling that this album won't end up getting an orange star, or at least won't keep it for too long but at least it can join the "2024 robbed of an orange star club" with the new Allie X, Last Dinner Party, and Joey Valance/Brae albums
FUCK DAVE CHAPPELLE
Anyways, I LOVE Knxwledge's production, so I'll take any opportunity to get more of it. Anderson .Paak is still leaning quite heavy into the soul area of his repertoire coming off of his other duo: SIlk Sonic. The combination of Paak and Knxwledge works incredibly well, but I was a little disappointed by HOW smooth it was. It's an incredibly easy listen, but I'm a bit more partial to the more varied and colourful performances I've seen Paak give on ... read more
Maybe the best the group has sounded; Never failing to swell emotions in me on re-listen from the wistful longing of Dreams Tonite, to the joy of Saved By a Waif
Relatively stripped back in comparison to earlier Bjork stuff, but comes through as supremely polished and refined. The instrumentation is built up from a lot of pops, clicks, whirrs, and boops, but the simplicity is the driving force that makes "Vespertine" so compelling
I wish Conscious Hip Hop was still as blatant with how based it was. They don't come after the FBI like they used to
Honestly didn't quite live up to my expectations after listening to "Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde." I'm not sure exactly why this is, as the rapping and production are both quite solid, but I just didn't find myself enjoying "Labcabincalifornia" quite as much
Somewhat reminiscent of something like Armand Hammer to me (at least sound wise). Lyrically, it exposes writer Travis Miller (also Lil Ugly Mane as I learned) incredibly bare. It's far more poetic and layered than full blown Outsider music, additionally bringing in some ambient elements. By nature and intent, the album wanders aimlessly at times, creating a structure as sensible as the psyche of the musician would appear to be
Maybe not as lyrically poignant to me on first listen as Twin Fantasy, but it's also insanely well arranged and performed. The instrumentals on each and every song are so good, really making a good bit of the album as good as it is
When the function has Korean Lo-Fi Psychedelic Folktronica
I DON'T CARE IF I'M THE ONLY PERSON THAT LIKES THIS EP I THINK IT FUCKS COO-KOOOOOOOOO
