Jaron making the math rock elements of his prior work the forefront of a song, was a direction I had been hoping for since he first introduced them, and this absolute BANGER has fulfilled my needs. Of course, it still has the heavenly, huge synth basses and glitchy production, but the guitars here really are special.

Here is my summary review of this song for my new project:
Starting off very strong, and possibly setting incredibly high standards for this project, we begin with 'Untitled (How Does It Feel' by D'Angelo (RIP to a legend). D'Angelo has produced an equally sensual, epic and cathartic 7 minute Neo-Soul experience, with this song, and although it does seem to take a while to get going, the next 5 ... read more
If this doesn't represent Malta at Eurov****n 2026, it will be one of the worst missed opportunities of a national selection since Ryk losing for Germany in 2024.
This song is genuinely just so incredibly, indescribably good. I absolutely adore the grand and complex orchestral arrangement, the tasteful guitar incorporations and its prominence in the outro, the tone and inflections of Aidan's voice, the stunning seventh (and other) harmonies, the hazy, classic atmosphere and, of ... read more
bby return with their annual 'I just want next year to be better' release, adding another two songs to their growing collection of catchy, groovy and pop-y post-punk/indie rock bangers. The two new songs are the best of the lot to far imo, with November a massive standout and one of my favourite songs of the year. Also glad and shocked to see 'pillow' blow up massively, getting over 70,000 streams in just 3 days, and rocket the band's monthly listeners from under 100k ... read more

To get in the holiday spirit PLEASE listen to 'I'm walking backwards for christmas'. Do it for me.. :3
Our second song of Eurovision 2026 was chosen just a day after the first, and I have mixed feelings on it. On the good side, for a dance-pop ethno-y song, it's above average, with good production and memorable, if typical, melodies. I really enjoy the choral effects and they make the song feel more unique. The chorus is pretty solid, and isn't as underwhelming as most songs in this genre, too. Her vocals in the studio version sound good and fit the vibes well. Unfortunately, at the ... read more
The first song selected for Eurovision 2026 is Nân by Alis, from Albania, and it's a very atmospheric, moody and emotionally impactful 'ballad'. I have ballad in quotes as I think it's undeserving to categorise a song as unique vocally and arrangement-wise as this, as a ballad. I love the choral backing vocals, as they add loads of atmosphere and texture, and Alis's voice is brilliant, and improves the song. The percussion is driving and its traditional sonority ... read more
A pretty basic but enjoyable song, and the only great bit of it is the delicious sax by my guy Rittipo. He's always been the artist I say when people ask for hidden gems, cause until this song released, he had consistently 1 monthly listener, which was me. Glad to see that it's risen to over 60,000 now!
A little underwhelming for my expectations, but still a great post-hardcore and pop punk EP with great vocals and unique melodies and timbres that absolutely stand out in the genre. Favourite song was probably the title track, but that breakdown in 'I Am Half-Sick Of Shadows' was nutty too.
Russian Quadeca??? Well, not exactly, but this new LP by источник (or Ustochnuk) brings us a wildly out-there, experimental record blending Hip Hop, Art Rock, Jazz and Noise Pop into a 50 minute double disc experience that had me intrigued from note one. It's so distinctly different from the artsy Emo/Midwest Emo, Post-Punk and Indie Rock that the project used to be, but I'm very much invested in this new direction.
The album does get really quite eclectic and confusing, but ... read more
Not as good as the incredible cover, but still some music that is certainly by Xavleg.
After over 7 years, xavleg officially return, with a song as goofy and brutal as ever. Actually excited for this new record.
Whilst nothing exceptionally special, this debut album from Ukrainian Pop-Punk trio, KARYOTYPE, shows lots of promise, with great vocals, lots of massive choruses, very solid songwriting, catchy melodies and occasional rather twinkly guitars for good measure. Hopefully their upcoming entry in Vidbir is FAR more like this album than their cheesy ukulele pop from their 2024 submission.
Better Place temporarily put away their DIY Emo/Midwest Emo sound, and release a very solid acoustic, indie folk EP with some spoken word elements as well as the twinkly math rock riffs of their regular work. The beautiful guitar is absolutely the standout of the EP, with the mathiness really complimenting the stripped back instrumentation very very well. The vocals are certainly decent, even when some of the lyrics are a little corny, and the vocal melodies add a lot to the emotion, and mesh ... read more
My favourite Ben Quadinaros tribute band are back with an absolutely incredible second album. Impeccable guitar-work, with some of their best and most full-sounding riffs and moments, stunning chords and twinkly passages, and great songwriting. I thought the album would maybe sound derivative of other modern midwest emo, but hell no, these guys know how to create song structures, chord sequences and instrumentals that are instantly recognisable as from Ben Quad.
I think I've concluded ... read more
