A pretty strong way to kick off their discography/career. One of the few times the band had a clear vision and executed it nicely. I appreciate the harder sounding rock that pops up on here and I wish that they stuck with that style. It has grown off me a bit over time but it’s still a damn fine record. Cant wait to hear what they do next even though I doubt it’ll be good.
This album is beautiful. Despite its run time I was hooked throughout the whole time and never found it dull. Really amazing.
Where do I even start with this? Black Midi is an experimental rock group that is based in England and they make some mind blowing music. Their debut album, Schlagenheim, was incredible and is one of my very few 10/10’s. It combined aspects of Math Rock, Industrial Rock, and No Wave while still being inventive and original. Unlike the new album, Cavalcade, it sounded much more like the result of jam sessions than composed musical arrangements. While that’s not a negative in any ... read more
Talking Heads has always been a band that I’ve wanted to like but never been able to. Some of their work doesn’t connect for me and it kinda makes me sad. It has everything I want from a band but none of their projects seem to fully hit. Except this one. For some reason this album just works. Maybe it’s because of the wonderful production by Brian Eno that I adore or the somewhat odd grooves like the ones on Once In A Lifetime or the amazing technical abilities of Tina ... read more
J.Cole gave me exactly what I expected he would give me, mediocrity. In 12 tracks Cole exemplifies why he's the most overhyped rappers to date and leaves me unsatisfied in the process. His rapping styles on this album are uninteresting and quite frankly boring and when he is able to capture my attention it's usually because of a bad line or a vocal delivery that sounds like someone else's. l e t . g o . m y . h a n d sounds like a deleted track off of TPAB with Cole doing his best Kendrick ... read more
(my computer has crashed multiple times while writing this so sorry if it isn't as good as you thought it would be it's late and I'm tired)
Her Majesty succeeds at what it tries to accomplish. It's a solid follow up that expands even more on the themes of the last album even though it falls short at times. Songs like Shanty For The Arethusa are haunting, unsettling and grim like all amazing The Decemberists songs are. The menacing production matches perfectly with the haunting lyricism and it ... read more
I was not excited for this album. I remember the first time I heard about the hype for Narrator and at that time I was super interested in hearing this song. So one day I found some time, sat down, and listened to it. Based on the first sentence of this review you could probably tell what my enjoyment of it was. After listening to it I thought "I'm super tired right now I probably just missed something in the song. I'll give it another shot in the morning." So the next morning I did ... read more
The Decemberists are a band I've known for quite a while now. Ever since I was young I've been listening to them and I think it's about time I do a dive through their discography. Today we will be discussing their debut album: Castaways and Cutouts. For a debut this album is insanely well put together. You can already hear the themes that will be even more developed in other albums and you can tell they know what they're doing. For the most part Castaways is a slow folk/indie rock album that ... read more
This album is just pure chaos. It makes me want to jump out of my desk chair and throw something out of a window and I absolutely adore that feeling this album gives me. Jeff does this outstanding job of balancing comedy and seriousness so it doesn't feel like you're just sitting down and listening to some guy sing about politics for 40 minutes. The instrumentals embody the best sides of ska punk and Jeff complements them with his manic and fast singing/yelping delivery. Three Cheers is a great ... read more

Food House is an experimental church choir that likes to dabble in Hyperpop a.k.a the word quirky as a genre. The group consists of Tony Hawk's son (Gupi) and Walmart Brand Laura Les (Fraxiom) and they form like Voltron to make some of the funnest music I've heard to date. Gupi on production does amazing with capturing the feel of each track. The spacey build up on the track Foresight and the strange synths on Curses match perfectly with their respective ... read more
This album is bad. There is no other way to put it. Bad beats, cringe-worthy writing, and an overall slog to get through. Nothing about it is interesting. It feels like every time Nem Nem gets his gross little hands on the mic the song gets ruined. For being regarded as one of the best rappers ever he sure does like releasing mid material. This is the point where his already mediocre career fell down a rather large cliff. The only reason why this is better than the mess that is Kamikaze is ... read more
Most super long reviews on this site start off with that one quote that's like "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable.” or whatever and I really wish I could use that. If I could it would be yay free clicks and whatnot but let's be honest this is The Smiths we're talking about. The Smiths are not weird in the slightest and one of their tags is literally jangle pop. But all of that aside this is going to be a long review so strap in your seatbelts as we learn ... read more
36 chambers is the gold standard for hip hop groups to reach. No one quite yet has been able to bring this much passion to a hip hop group album. Every single person brings so much to this album that it’s so hard to dislike it. It has everything I could’ve asked for. Passion, wittiness, replayability, memorability, and talent. Every member sounds so hungry and it adds a sense of toughness to the album that is important to Wu-Tang in my opinion. Overall its one of the best rap albums ... read more
(I did this review for a discord im in and i thought i should share it here so thats why it looks different than usual)
Giles Corey is an album that finds beauty in misery. If you’ve ever been through a horrible time in your life you know what it feels like to have fallen into a deep dark pit of agony and self destruction. This album is that feeling in sound form. Giles Corey is a solo project from one of the members of Have A Nice Life. That member being Dan Barrett. If you know ... read more
