The quintessential indie rock album. It is the embodiment of what makes this genre so great and amazing. Funeral is so emotionally potent that you can't help but feel something while listening to this. if you don't feel something whenever you listen to this I'm convinced you have no soul. Most tracks are so personal that it's heartbreaking. It's called Funeral because most members of the band lost their family members at this time and you can tell it affected the music. That's probably why the ... read more
Despite the really misleading album title this is a very good album
This was not what I was looking for. I don't know if it's just me but this album seems too clean and too filtered. I can understand if people like it but I expected so much more out of this and it fell flat on it's face. *sigh*
This album is unsettling to say the least. Every time I put it on I get shivers sent down my spine. This isn't because it's creepy or scary but instead it's because you know that this story of depression doesn't really have a happy ending. Not even a year after the album's release the lead vocalist, Ian Curtis, killed himself. This really affected the way I listened to Unknown Pleasures. I don't know if it's for worse or for better but it definitely changed the way I enjoy it. But let's move ... read more
That was certainly an album...
I don't think I've been this physically uncomfortable listening to an album since I listened to Visions Of Bodies Being Burned by Clipping. for the first time. It's like watching a horror movie. You sit down in your seat, get scared for a period of time, and then leave feeling happy. But instead of knowing what movie you're going to watch you walk into a theater blind folded and it just happens to be playing Midsommar or something. I was going through Xiu Xiu's ... read more
For day ??? of classics month i will be reviewing the low end theory by a tribe called quest
ATCQ truly made a phenomenal rap album with this release. The production is super solid and the lyrical talent is on full display. Most of the production is jazz centered and it adds to the overall uniqueness of the album. Some of my favorite beats on the album are the beats on Excursions, Rap Promoter, Butter, Vibes and Stuff, and Jazz (We've Got). They are all very laid back but still interesting. ... read more
Let me start this review with some background. I'm not a fan of system of a down but I know people who adore them. I guess some people like some corny guy that doesn't have a good singing voice singing over heavy guitars but that's not the point. When I heard about this EP I was very skeptical because again I'm not a fan. That skepticism was boosted after reading some reviews of this EP from people that like SOAD. 5 days later I finally get the time to listen to it and it's worse than I ... read more
This proves why Zach Hill is one of the best drummers of our generation. Everything about this album is impressive and I really can’t find a dull moment. Both members do their absolute best and it pays off tremendously. Been a Long Time Cousin and Biblical Violence are some of the best songs in Hella’s discography and all of the other songs are also excellent. Hold Your Horse Is was a great listen and an overall classic album.
I know it's super dumb to hate on Bieber because he's Justin Bieber but this album was not good at all. Everything about it is generic. Generic beats, generic songwriting, and generic singing. Nothing about this album is special and the songs with features are the best songs (except for Holy that song is awful). He even fails at creating interesting song titles. All of these song titles are so generic that they could've been used by anyone. The artwork is also hideous. Did Justin do anything ... read more
Bjork is one of those artists that doesn't have a weak album in their catalog. Like seriously, from what I've heard so far I haven't heard a Bjork album I dislike. But Vespertine stands out to me. It's rare to find an album where the cover matches the music but this is one of those albums. Like the cover, the sounds of this album are majestic and abstract while still being very strange and hard to figure out. Everything from the vocals to the instrumentals sound very spacey and lush and the ... read more
Apostrophe to me is the perfect Frank Zappa album from what I've heard from his discography so far. It's funny, zany, and a really good display of talent. The sequencing of the album is outstanding with multiple songs transitioning into each other. All of the instrumentals on this album are unlike anything I've heard in modern rock and the lyricism is hilarious as usual. Another reason why I love this album is because it was my first introduction to Zappa. Before hearing Apostrophe I've heard ... read more
With Icedancer Bladee gives us some of his best material yet. I don't hate any part of Icedancer vocally or instrumentally. Each song on this album is instrumentally different and have their own vibe to it. I debated giving this album a 95 but I feel like it's too early to call it. This album combines the best elements of 333 and EXETER and creates one of the best trap/cloud rap albums of all time. Be Nice 2 Me, Mallwhore Freestyle, Jaws, Side by Side, and Dg Jeans are some of his best songs to ... read more
Finer Moments feels like one giant meme. It was obviously supposed to have a visual release hence why there are times where it’s just people laughing but a visual release was never made or hasn’t been released. Most of the time it sounds like people are laughing ridiculously hard at someone playing a piano. On the other hand it’s just weird for the sake of being weird. One track is just random percussion for 8 minutes straight. An absolute waste of my life and it shows how bad ... read more
