David Bowie - Station to Station (Special Edition)

this album is good. thats it. listen to it.

Bladee - 333
69

333 seems to go in one ear and out the other. I had to listen to this album like 3 times to differentiate each song from each other. But with that being said I still liked it. 333 in my opinion works best as background music. It's very subtle and chill but sometimes it's to it's own detriment. Almost half of the tracklist is either super boring or forgettable. 333 is also lot more radio friendly with it's poppier beats compared to something like EXETER which is a lot more strange. Even though I ... read more

Radiohead - In Rainbows
97

For day 14 of Classics Month I will be talking about In Rainbows by Radiohead

In Rainbows feels more human than most of their releases. It's like they said "Hey let's not be sad and make some happy music." For once it seemed like they enjoyed making an album. 15 step and Bodysnatchers are great examples of this sense of joy that the album has. All of the songs on the tracklist sound beautiful and there isn't a track that brings down the album. The only flaw I have with this album is ... read more

Bladee - EXETER
79

EDIT: 73 ---> 79 I think its safe to say I like this album a lot

I'm going to be comparing this to the works of 100 gecs a lot. If you find that to be annoying or whatever just don't read because it's going to pop up in the review more than once. Now lets get to the review.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but this album is good. For a long time I've been saying that Bladee, Ecco2K, and Yung Lean are bad. But someone on Discord nonstop talks about them and it's been getting on my ... read more

Daft Punk - Discovery

I wish I could’ve seen them live :(

Metallica - ...And Justice for All

This album might not have found the bass.... but it did find it's way into my heart.

Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85–92
96

For day 11 of Classics Month I will be talking about Selected Ambient Works 85-92 by Apex Twin.

If you have ever gone on a music related website you more than likely have heard about this album. It might be the album cover you are familiar with or you might have read a review or two, either way you have probably encountered this album before. 85-92 has become one of the most iconic ambient albums ever and it's phenomenal. This album can go from feeling super bare bones and stripped down like ... read more

Slint - Spiderland
96

For day 9 of Classics Month I will be reviewing Spiderland by Slint.

Whenever I hear this album I just focus on it completely. Nothing else matters. I just get put in a trance like state that gets broken whenever a song ends. I tried to put this album on while homework and ended up staring at the screen mesmerized by the guitars and almost spoken word vocals. Whenever I played this album for my little brother he said " It makes me feel like I want to call for help." and I can't ... read more

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables

For day 8 of Classics Month I will be reviewing Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables by Dead Kennedys.

What a nice unpolitical album. I really needed this after a long day and it really calmed me. I really hope that it actually is unpolitical and not some fast-paced punk music. I would hate that so much. Politics are so annoying in music and I'm so glad I could find an album I can vibe to when I'm relaxing. I give this Kid Rock album a ninety five out of one hundred......... Wait, what do you ... read more

Jake Joseph - Superjail!
75

it was good. a bit amateurish at times but not bad at all. unlike most instrumental artists, it felt very formulaic. the point probably flew over my head but I did not get the feel that each track was immersive. this album works best as something you can just throw on and vibe to and I enjoy it for that aspect. I found that I enjoyed it most as background music while studying or doing other activities and not focusing on it. Superjail just feels like a cool little collection of beats and ... read more

For day 7 of Classics Month I will be reviewing Is This It by The Strokes

Drugs. Whenever I think of this album I think of drugs. I haven't taken any but there's something about the laid back vibe and the vocals on the album that makes me think of someone stoned. The Modern Age, Soma, Barely Legal, and Take It or Leave It are the best examples of this druggy atmosphere even though it's pretty much everywhere. Another good aspect of the songs are their catchiness. Sometimes when I'm doing ... read more

The Beatles - Revolver
94

For day 6 of Classics Month I will be reviewing Revolver by The Beatles.

In 1966 The Beatles released their magnum opus Revolver. While it is very poppy, it still has it's really cool moments. For example, Eleanor RIgby has these amazing strings in it that you can't hear in any other song of that time. Another great example is the reversed guitar solo in I'm only sleeping. Revolver is the best example of why so many people listen to The Beatles and why they are so good. They provided super fun ... read more

Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica
88

For day 5 of Classics Month I will be talking about Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart.

TMR is an oddity of an album. It is by no means enjoyable, but it still is regarded to be a classic. why do people like this album? Why do I like this album? It is dumb, stupid, absurd, and nonsensical but I still listen to it. this album is the textbook definition of insanity. The only thing more unorganized than this album's instrumentals is my old 5th grade school band. It is 28 tracks long and ... read more

Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
100

For the fourth day of Classics Month I will be talking about In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel.

This album can be very hit or miss for people. I've met people who adore this album and I've also met people who absolutely despise it. As you can tell by the score, I really like it! ITAOTS has been with me through my entire life and it's become one of my personal favorites. It's purposely low quality sound and weird imagery make for very interesting listens. "Holland, ... read more

Madvillain - Madvillainy
100

For the third day of classics month I will be reviewing Madvillainy by Madvillain (MF DOOM and Madlib).

Madvillainy is a collaborative project by producer Madlib and Rapper MF DOOM. At first glance this album can be a bit intimidating. There are 22 tracks and that can be a bit of a turnoff. Sadly, I was one of those people who didn't check it out because of this. In that period of my life I just wanted a short rap album that had a lot of substance in it. After a while I warmed up to the idea ... read more

Radiohead - Kid A
100

EDIT: its a 100

To say that this was a dramatic change in tone from OKC is an understatement. I doubt anyone could have predicted they could go this way with their sound in 2000. At the time of it's release people considered this album to be career sabotage. Critics hated it, fans hated it, and it seemed like everyone hated it. But if we fast forward to now, people love this album. Ask any Radiohead fan and they'll probably tell you this album is in the top 3 of their discography. Now if you ... read more

Pixies - Doolittle
94

This march I will be starting classics month! Every single day I will be reviewing an album that came out before 2010 that I feel deserves the title as classic. To start things off I have an album that my mom actually suggested. That album being Doolittle by Pixies.

In 1989, Pixies released their album Doolittle. For 1989 this album seems fairly modern. If someone told me this came out around 2006 I would have believed them. It's honestly unbelievable how ahead of the curve and forward ... read more

Black Dresses - Forever In Your Heart
78

I think I should start off this review by saying this is one of the most insane things I've ever heard. It's totally unique and I really can't compare it to anything. Once you hit play on the first track you know the whole album is going to be industrial and noisey. Tracks like Heaven and Bulldozer have these grimy beats that make you feel uncomfortable but in a good way. Another thing about this album is the amount of emotional baggage in the lyrics. The track We'll Figure It Out best ... read more

Black Country, New Road - For the first time
95

Going into this I album had no idea what to expect. I've never heard of this band before and the only reason why I heard it is because a friend on Discord recommended it to me. So going into this I was scared to say the least but after hearing it I can safely say that this is an AOTY contender. The best way to describe this album is if Black Midi had a saxophone and a violin player. It's only 6 tracks long with every song about 5-8 minutes. Some people might see this and go "this is going ... read more

On JacksonBurns's review of Huddy - Teenage Heartbreak
"“ If one fucking person can tell me what this even means I'll personally send you a handwritten letter congratulating you.” “We break up everyday, make-out just so we're ok.” details the plight of falling in love as a teenager. It obviously portrays a couple torn apart by toxicity and constantly “breaking up” but since they’re kids they don’t want to end it, leading to them making out more. Give me my letter."
