A couple of days ago I listened to Process for the first time. A friend recommended it to me because I was going on a trip to California. I had pretty much no idea what this was gonna be besides recognizing the name so it's safe to say I was in for one heck of a trip. When I finally got time to listen to it I sat down, relaxed my mind, and pressed play. As soon as I heard the first few notes I knew this was going special. Plastic 100°C is a great opening track to kick off the project. The ... read more
This is, by far, the best thing I have ever heard in my entire life. Power to you if you can dislike this but holy crap this album is amazing.
Not a bad debut by any means, but knowing what will come next it leaves me underwhelmed. Tracks like Human Behavior and The Anchor Song show that Bjork has a really good job at writing melodies that stick in your head for ages and that’s an ability she will continue to use for years. Crying has a wonderfully strange instrumental and Aeroplane has one of the best vocal performances of her early career. But other than those few tracks and a couple of other ones it’s kinda forgettable. ... read more
Peppa’s new folky direction is a very interesting change of pace but I still think it’s lack luster compared to the debut. Some tracks are very fun and great pop songs but the majority of the album is very boring for peppa’s usual output. The title track is an interesting starter but very unconvincing lyrically. Her attitude doesn’t sell me on the idea that today is going to be a grand adventure. Same with Perfect Day. She doesn’t convince me well enough that ... read more
This album is a mess. There’s literally nothing positive I can say about this project without being dishonest to myself. I can’t believe a Tones and I project would be THIS bad. I didn’t like Dance Monkey but I didn’t expect an album by her to be garbage to this degree. I honestly wrote Dance Monkey off to be this awful and rancid pop song that wasn’t too offensive. One of those 1 hit wonders to just die off in a few years. But this has proven me wrong in the worst ... read more
This is the worst thing this year my ears have had the displeasure of listening to
The Decemberists are a band that I admire greatly. Their ability to combine genres effortlessly is spellbinding and every one of their songs has their own story. Even though these aspects apply to most of their early work, I find them most present in Picaresque. This album is theatrical and overdramatic to the highest degree and it's all the better for it. The Infanta and The Mariner's Revenge Song (which is a 9 minute sea shanty ballad) wouldn't be half as good as they are without the ... read more
In Phil’s magnum opus, he perfects the art of experimental recordings and crafts a spellbinding story of himself climbing the mountain the album was named after. It’s an album that demands your attention and gives back what the listener puts into it. The wildly experimental parts don’t feel forced at all and it adds to the uneasiness of the main character’s mental state at times. Overall, a great album.
If DJ drama doesn’t shut up I’m going to commit a felony
Deathcon is an album that really speaks to me. It’s that type of album that when I listen to it, it brings back previous emotions I had for better or for worse. It makes me feel like “hey, stuff is kinda crappy right now and it’s hard, but I know you can get through it.” Its cathartic and anxious but still comforting. The sound design of the album is absolutely enormous sounding and it swallows you whole. Tracks like the first track, There Is No Food, Who Would Leave ... read more
TYLER DOES IT AGAIN!!!!!!
Yeah this song is fantastic. I didn’t imagine he would go in this direction after Igor but I’m all here for it if it sounds this good. The beat is more menacing than any of the songs he’s made since Flower Boy and Tyler just raps bar after bar over it. He does his thing lyrically with funny 1 liners and great wordplay and his flow is super infectious. Hopefully the album will live up to the hype I now have for it.
