It’s a messy album but damn there are some absolute highlights on here like Hibou Anemone and Bear, as long as he lies perfectly still. Moments of ethereal beauty and nostalgia. I don’t care so much for the noisy sections tho
Certainly an update on the debut. Much more dynamic, melodic and dark.
Ancient didnt't need that gated reverb wailing soloing from Steve. other than that this album is perfect.
A great band finding their sound. lovely rustic onslaught of beauty. but not as confident as future releases.
This album completely took me by surprise when I stumbled upon opening track 'Tenemos Roads' and its instant chatchiness, uplifting mood and effective immersive, pastoral changes. Brujo gives us some of the tastiest, most wholesome chord changes, synth sounds and the rest of this album overall gives you some of the finest and most virtuoso improvising ever. This might be strange to say but I just wish they tried to make atleast 1 more catchy proper 'tune' like the opener. ... read more
Not perfect but still deserves to be a double album. despite moving away from the more folklorish english aesthetic this is still a sonically and thematically stunning album that sounds delicious
This is what music is supposed to sound like. Archaic, folklorish, magical, quirky and achingly pretty
alot of highlights like Pop out, crank, toxic, cocaine nose and opm babi but also way too many generic and dated trap vine fidget spinner era pop trap. hearing future talk about molly and fuggin deez hoes on a type beat just gets tiring...
pretty pointless albums when King crimson, Yes, Gentle Giant, Genesis, ELP, CAN, etc were all happening. it still has charming moments but it just does not stand out at all
Super strong first half. The second side doesn't grab me as much. Proclamation is absolutely insane
Amazing album but again.. two tracks that drag it down: Working all Day and Mr Class and Quality.
