"Warning: Lost and Djarum contain repetitive beats. We advise you not to play these tracks if the Criminal Justice Bill becomes law. Flutter has been programmed in such a way that no bars contain identical beats and can therefore be played at 45 or 33 revolutions under the proposed law. However we advise DJs to have a lawyer and musicologist present at all times to confirm the non-repetitive nature of the music in the event of police harassment.

UNTILTED: Electronically and mechanically manipulated by Rob Brown and Sean Booth

Autechre have been at the forefront of groundbreaking electronic music since the release of the mind-boggling Confield (which you should listen to if you haven't). The band went from being just another exponent of the sprawling British IDM '90s scene to masters of analog equipment and sound design, creating abstract yet powerful musical soundscapes that challenge the listener. Untilted is the pinnacle, ... read more

PREEMPTIVE STRIKE: The rise of a (not so) one hit wonder

This might be my favorite compilation album of all time. So much so that by first listen, I thought it was a fully fleshed out album. "Preemptive Strike" is a fascinating collection of singles released on the Mo Wax label between 1993-1997, and includes the "What Does Your Soul Look Like" EP as well (which is, as a matter of fact, my favorite EP of all time).

Part of what made me think this is a fully fleshed out ... read more

I cannot understand how these guys can make the most weird beats, flows and production techniques sound good and make it even radio friendly. Genius

From the hip hop star turned nazi comes a new single for his album WW3 (I guess? IDK that album probably won't come out). And as expected, it's not good. What a surprise!

Kanye has been on a downward spiral ever since Donda released, and I don't even need to say what he did or how he did it, because it's basically public knowledge. This led to the creation of the worst albums in his catalogue, Vultures 1 and 2, both of which are blessed by ear-spliting mixing, moving lyrics ... read more

"Great Review. In the Air is trully stellar"
On clawd's review of Autechre - Confield
"I agree up to a certain extent. The fun of Confield, in my opinion, is the complete dissasociation of "humanity" in Autechre's music. It's an important left turn in their carrer, and for electronic music as a whole, because it shows the limits of how weird yet technical electronic music can be. Even amidst the coldness, there is still some spark of emotion, which makes it such a gripping yet gruelling listen. It is a challenge, just like most moden AE, but a tremendously rewarding one. I hope you give it another chance one day. Great review nevertheless."

"@Normanalee "limited ability of brain" "To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Autechre. The textures are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory, most of the enjoyment of the music will go over a typical listener's head. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these warped farts, to realise that they're not just farts- they represent a culture of highly capable and resilient listeners; a TRUE battle of artist and consumer. As a consequence people who dislike Autechre truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate the sheer clusterfuck of masterfully orginal beats that totally do have a glimpse of generative AI. Hideous? Perchance."
