Ed Sheeran goes back to trying to sell his horrible pop music in the big 25. Unfortunately, no one cares this time. Maybe they have finally wised up, or maybe no one even bothered to listen to the music to begin with. This is literal slop, but I expect nothing less from my least favorite sales rat.
A pretty ok country album. I typically really don’t like country music, but this isn’t torture to my ears. It’s kinda basic and the songwriting is mid, but it’s country music so what do you expect. The production is boring at points, but it does have its good moments too. Overall, a fine album.
A pretty good album. The instrumentals are great, but they can drag a bit. I’m not the biggest fan of the singing, but it’s not unbearable. The last song also goes on for too long, but it’s a fine song. I’m not sure how I would feel about waiting sixteen years for anything, but The Cure seems to have delivered a solid project.
Another overrated Danny Brown album. There are some amazing songs on here, but they are dragged down by some real stinkers. Some of these songs are just unbearable. Downward Spiral is unlistenable to me. Danny sounds like a muppet on crack. The best songs are the ones that drown out Danny’s voice by the production or have features. Basically the less Danny can screw it up with his voice the better. Overall, a severely mixed bag.
Overrated. Some of the songs are great and the production is well made. However, I find Danny’s voice to be irritating at some points. There are some songs I simply cannot stand. The first track is just not good and a lot of the sampling isn’t great in my opinion. I know the production is meant to be experimental, but some of the songs just felt like they were unfinished rather than being intentionally out there. Overall, it’s fine just not for me and certainly not what the ... read more
Not really for me. I thought it was well made and it was a fine listen, it just didn't really click with me and I didn't really care for his voice. Just kind of fell in the meh department on the first listen.
A classic. The extremely popular Running Up That Hill is only the tip of the hit iceberg. This hasn't aged a day. There is a few things that I personally don't care for, but this is an undeniable album.
A strong debut for Olivia Dean. She is a seemingly overnight success with a few hit already under her belt with this album. I had heard Man I Need and liked that song and the rest of the album complements it well. It’s short, but it doesn’t have much filler which is refreshing to see when a lot of the industry has been pushed toward having as many songs as possible to boost streaming. But The Art of Loving proves that quality perseveres over quantity because it is dominating on ... read more
This isn’t as manufactured as his more recent stuff, but it is still full of filler. It is also very ironic to have a song about authenticity on an Ed Sheeran album. A very mixed bag overall.
Oh absolutely not. She can not be serious. Jessie Murph says this is satire, but saying this does not make it true. The writing, vocals, production, and content are horrible. Saying her voice is like nails on a chalkboard is an insult to nails on a chalkboard. What were we thinking with the song 1965. There is no satire. She just wants her boyfriend to hit her. This is not anything like Lana Del Ray’s Ultraviolence. Ultraviolence is not glorifying abuse, unlike this song. Ultraviolence is ... read more
Energetic all the way through. I don’t really listen to dubstep, but this was pretty good. The album was kind of like one relentless song. Fun and interesting production without being over the top earrape.
Not as bad as his previous LP, but it still feels lifeless somehow. I can’t get behind this man. There isn’t much to say other than it is just boring and feels inauthentic because it’s Ed Sheeran.
This is Rihanna’s best work. ANTI feels like a fully realized project rather than a playlist of pop songs, which is what most of Rihanna’s previous albums end up being. This is the most honest that she has been on an album, pulling back a bit of that pop star persona. It is her most interesting sound as well. I could do without a few of the tracks, but overall, it was very consistent. If Rihanna ever decided to do music again, I hope it would be as considered as this project was.
Stankonia is a near perfect amalgamation of Hip Hop, Funk, and Soul. The experimentation on this record is amazing and the production is great. The album never loses energy with its constantly changing style. The lyrics are also great. I think this album is mostly known for its very mainstream songs, but there is a lot of experimentation on here. I honestly wasn’t anticipating it to be very experimental going in because of the songs I had heard, which puts this in a weird in between of ... read more
The first track sets the expectations too high. I think this isn’t quite as boring as Rosie, but not as good as Ruby. Ruby truly shows Jennie’s personality and talents, but Alter Ego isn’t really indicative of much individuality. Lisa also finds herself failing to outshine any of her features. Overall, a fine debut, especially for her first project away from her group.
This is Ed Sheeran’s first really huge projects and the decline in quality would only continue from here. You can tell he was being much more watered down and overtly trying to break into a more mainstream audience. This would be the precursor to the chart obsessed rat we have to deal with today. So boring and inoffensive that it’s a hard listen.
A short, but great album from Troye Sivan. There are clear standouts on this record, but the album tracks are pretty consistent as well. All in all, a fun yet vulnerable dance pop project.
Such an under appreciated record. This is Doja’s best work. It’s such a shame that this record was ignored by the masses. It’s great to see Doja curse of making stellar pop music to use on this album. It’s pretty consistent throughout, but she never manages to match the quality of the lead single, Jealous Type, with any of the album tracks. Overall, a great effort by Doja. I hope the relative commercial flop that Vie was doesn’t discourage her from doing more pop ... read more
