Been a while but thought I’d show some love to my favourite band’s latest record. These guys are looking like world-beaters and the scary thing is that these tracks only sound better live. The world better prepare itself for the phenomenon that is soon to be Wunderhorse.
thus shit messed up. who gave quadeekh from hivemind the right to make a boderline masterpiece in a year where bcnr, kendrick, loyle carner and fontatines also did so. the end of year list is gonna be a tough one.
Being a silly uneducated 17 year old, I didn’t realise until a few days ago that the Soulquarian movement existed, a as well as the fact I whole-handedly gave perfect scores 3/4 of the core group of records recorded at Electric Lady by the group during the late 90s. Subconscious bias moment.
Whilst big Alex from High Green does steal the show throughout at least 90% of the album and sort of leaves Matt, Jamie and Nick from High Green in the background to serve his songs, this is the perfect follow-up from Tranquility Base that fans of their previous effort desired.
James Ford’s production is on point yet again and helps boost the grandiosity of the record as a whole, but Turner’s lyricism has really reached the peak in terms of maturity and transparency in ways ... read more
