Edit: fuck pitchfork
I've been waiting for this album ever since it got announced, and I'm finally getting to hear it. To be honest, this is Big L's second best album, and I know putting this over The Big Picture can be a bit diabolical, but I personally enjoyed this a lot more than I expected, not just because Big L is my favourite rapper.
This album is just more proof that he had an insane amount of potential to be the best. Of course, his music is still great, but he ... read more
I really enjoyed their previous 2 projects so I decided to check out the next one in line, which is also supposedly their best.
Tracks 2 to 10 were a phenomenal run, but I was quite disappointed with the last 6, they're probably the only reason I don't agree with the fact that this is in the top 50 albums on AOTY. I'm not saying the last few songs are bad, but they aren't on the same level as the ones before track 11.
Andre's rhymes on this album took a step up from the ... read more
Thanks to @Oaisis for the recommendation!
I'm not a huge fan of G-Funk but this album was actually better than I expected, considering that it isn't very popular, but it's still great nevertheless.
Considering that this guy's most popular song has over 600 million streams, I'm really surprised I've never heard about him before, but that happens sometimes, and I'm glad that good artists get rediscovered with the new platforms.
The West Coast was absolutely ... read more
I've seen tons of praise on Westside Gunn's music so I decided it'd be a good idea to check out a bit of it. I get why people like it so much, I definetely can't blame anybody.
This stuff kind of sounds like oldschool Hip Hop if it had more of the modern elements. The production on some of these songs makes it sound like it was made in the 90s for some reason, I don't know if it's only me or..
Surprisingly, I actually really enjoyed Gunn's performance, and his ... read more
I can't think of a more relaxing genre than some good old Jazz. I was thinking of getting a Jazz album for Christmas since it's coming around soon, and this might be the one I want most. Music like this just relieves me severely, and I can definetely see myself listening to this quite a lot, that's if I get the physical album, of course.
The instrumentals on this masterpiece are absolutely exceptional, this is, without a doubt, one of my favourite Jazz albums, but it isn't ... read more
"2007" Rating - 100
This is one of the best Hip Hop albums of this decade, for some people it's the absolute best. I personally don't think that, but I can't say that they're wrong, this is definetely a really good album, deserving all the love it gets.
JID is one of the most talented rappers of the past few years, his current form might be one of the best in Hip Hop right now, I can't think of another rapper that does this better than him today.
His flow is ... read more
It started off really solid but it started to get a bit repetitive nearing the end of the album, but it's still alright considering most of the songs are very decent.
This is one of the earliest Southern Hip Hop that reached mainstream status, and it's definetely a great representation of what the subgenre is about.
I was never really familiar with OutKast's music, but now that I heard this album (and ATLiens), I might check out more music from their catalogue, since I had their ... read more
Why was this actually so much better than I expected?
A friend said this album is his favourite and apparently the best from MF DOOM's catalogue, and I wanted to fact check that. I can't say he's right, but I can validate his opinion, because this is definetely great.
This project has all the elements you could ask for in a rap album, it has nice production, a rapper that can deliver great, sometimes lyrical verses, and some great features too, especially Ghostface Killah, his ... read more

Finally I have an album that I can call the greatest album of all time and it won't be a biased opinion, this is quite literally the best listening experience I've had in.. forever, probably.
This album took so damn much talent to make, like bro, the man is literally blind, and yet he's still one of the most skilled musicians I know of. Imagine being born with a disability and still dropping bangers. Artists today that ... read more
I'm still traumatized by Ice Cube's newer albums so I decided to come back to his old music, obviuously not a solo project but it's still very similar to AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted and Death Certificate, so it definetely has the vibe that Cube's old music gives off.
Fairly surprising how this group isn't totally dead yet, it's music itself is semi-underground, but every person that listened to even a tiny bit of Cube's old music should know about Lench ... read more
I can't believe people never speak about this, but always remember to mention albums 10x worse than this when talking about the best West Coast albums.. smh
Diabolical how the title track has nearly 300 million streams and the rest of the songs all have under 8 million streams.. Amazing song though, definetely understand why it's the biggest one by far.
The production, it's absolutely amazing, if you're looking for an album that's continuously got great beats, this is ... read more
I'm so glad this album didn't disappoint me because I bought it before listening to it, but I already knew that this was going to be good because Sade is elite, so there was no doubts when getting it, well.. maybe a few.
Definetely one of the most relaxing albums I've listened to, so if you wanna chill out, soul music is where it's at, especially Sade, they're especially good for that.
There isn't a single song that I can't call great, they're all ... read more
Listening to albums my sister likes to see if they're worth all the hype, Vol. 3
Probably the album I'm most familiar with out of the ones she's recommended to me so far. I hear atleast 3 songs from this album every day. Whenever I'm in a 10 meter radius within her, this album is always playing from her phone at full volume, no exceptions. The album itself ain't anything magical, but it's still respectable, no other way I can really put my opinion about this album. ... read more

Okay I can definetely confirm that she knows ball, I actually didn't expect this album to be as good as it is. Definetely enjoyed it more than I expected, and that's just because the user score is surprisingly low.
I'm also not familiar with this genre, like at all, but it's definetely good from what I heard on this album in particular. Lana Del Rey's talent is top-tier.

Listening to albums my sister likes to see if they're worth all the hype, Vol. 1
I was gonna listen to this album eitherway since it's surprisingly the #1 album of 2024 for critics, but my sister influenced me into listening to it earlier, so shout out I guess :D
Understandable why so many people enjoy this album, but it's not as good as people say it is, but only according to my preference.
This is the type of music that would play in a club, well no shit, it's dance music, ... read more
Definetely more enjoyable than Vol. 1, there's more songs that are a better experience listening to, and Track 17 might be the most sad song in Hip Hop. I can't believe that people never even think of Immortal Technique as one of the best lyricists in Hip Hop, all that talent just for people to overlook him.
Immortal Technique finds a more enjoyable way to deliver political verses on this album, and it's definetely a better effort than his previous album. He doesn't adress ... read more
Immortal Technique is definetely one of the best Political Hip Hop artists, no debate with that, he doesn't get the credit he deserves, and even though I'm absolutely delighted that he's gaining popularity from people that rediscover his music, he should still be mentioned more frequently when in the conversation of lyrical skill in Hip Hop.
A single line quite literally changed some people's view on his music, Dance With the Devil might be the darkest song of any genre, ... read more
Discography #15 complete
I didn't think there would be any album in GZA's discography I would enjoy less than his debut, but here we are. I don't despise it, but it definetely dissapointed me. It's devastating that this is the last album in his discography, I really hope he's gonna make atleast one more album in the future.
The production on this album is pretty lazy, I can't say I enjoyed any of the beats, but there's some alright beats there and there, but ... read more
I really like the production along with GZA's verses here, I don't understand why people are saying that Muggs' production and GZA's performance don't match well.
This album is actually half decent, it's definetely a great album to redeem himself for some of the weaker projects he has released in the past, and though they weren't terrible, they didn't really surprise me, nor anybody pretty much.
I haven't heard much of Muggs' works before, but I ... read more
That cover looks like a screenshot from a Valve game, like you can't tell me the cover doesn't look straight outta Portal
I honestly expected better from this album, since the score is slightly higher than his previous project, but it turns out that I enjoyed Beneath the Surface better than this album.
It's not terrible, but it's a bit dissapointing for the same person that made Liquid Swords, but I guess you can only have a single prime, and it may not last long.
