De La Soul - Cabin In The Sky

Discography #17 complete

Yes!! The day has finally come, they finally dropped after 9 years of being quiet. And it's not just a simple album - it's actually really good, which I'm really happy about, because after listening to their 2016 project, my hopes were a bit low, but now, it turns out this was way better than I thought.
This was one of the best feature lists I've seen this year - with artists like Killer Mike, Q-Tip, Nas, Black Thought, Common and Slick Rick, they ... read more

MF DOOM - Operation: Doomsday

I don't know why I haven't listened to this album earlier, but damn, I was missing out on something so good.
For some reason, I always decide to listen to a MF DOOM album when I have nothing to listen to. I should've finished all of his albums a while ago, but I always decide to listen to just one of them every once in a while. They just have something special in them that make the album a thousand times better.
This was slightly better than MM..FOOD in my opinion, and that may ... read more

De La Soul - and the Anonymous Nobody...

Atleast this won't be their last album anymore..
Discography is finished for now, but I'm not gonna celebrate until they release Cabin in the Sky. I have high hopes for their new album but listening to this one made me rethink that.. I hope the features can save the album if they don't do a good enough job on it.
For some reason I was expecting this to be better than the rating says it is, but apparently it's even worse than that. It looked like an interesting album at ... read more

De La Soul - The Grind Date
80

This is the first and only De La Soul album that can compare to their first four albums, yet it can still hardly out-do those albums. I think this was their fifth best album, but I'm still waiting for the newest one they're going to release really soon.
I was actually quite surprised when I found out that they have one last album that's enjoyable and does a great job at sounding like their older music.
The feature list really surprised me this time, I think this is the best one ... read more

De La Soul - AOI: Bionix

It's better than the previous AOI album, but it still lacks the usual content De La Soul albums used to have in the 90s and their debut album from '89.
There's actually quite a few songs that are decent, and definetely better than what was on the previous album, but I think it still doesn't compare with any of their earliest albums. I feel like the album would be better than it is without tracks 13 and 14.
For some reason, critics unusually rated this album surprisingly ... read more

De La Soul - Art Official Intelligence: Mosaic Thump

Aaaaand here we go.. I fear there aren't gonna be any albums that are even close to any of the albums De La Soul released from 1989 to 1996.
I mean sure, this still sounds somewhat similar to what they used to sound like, but it lacks something that made their previous albums so good, and it lacks a lot of it.
The usual skit spam is coming to an end, and it was already fading away ever since Buhloone Mindstate. First I was complaining, now I'm starting to miss them. I guess I have to ... read more

De La Soul - Buhloone Mindstate

My conclusion from last review: This is the worst album out of De La Soul's first four. According to AOTY, DLSID is the worst, but from personal preference, this one was worse.
The most unusual thing about this album is the amount of skits - I think it'd be more enjoyable with a shit ton of them, and yes, last time I complained about there being too much, but sometimes you just start missing them, not a fun experience watching them go.
Worst never means bad - Their first four albums ... read more

De La Soul - De La Soul Is Dead

Since De La Soul is going to release an album in a few days, I thought I could finish their discography before it comes out because it seems quite decent.
I've listened to a few of their projects in the past, so I'll be starting with their second one and jumping over Stakes Is High.
Certainly, a great start, and I'm not expecting any flops in their discography, really. Most of their albums seem easily listenable and unique, but I can judge that when I finish them all.
This is a ... read more

First - I'd like to say thank you all for 400 followers, I'm insanely grateful for all the support and I'm very very happy that I managed to reach this point and this really boosted me to be more active on here.
And this is also my 200nd review so that's one hell of a coincidence, I honestly never really planned on doing this but I guess it matched well.
Okay, enough yapping, let's get onto the album now.

I never thought Snoop Dogg would compliment my balls.

The Roots - Things Fall Apart

This is an album that I was inspired to listen to because of Black Thought's (and danger mouse's) Cheat Codes. I don't know why I haven't taken this group serious before, but I just ignored their music before I was convinced that Black Thought is a really good artist and that I should definitely listen to something he made in the past.
Out of all the albums I chose this one, well, obviously because it's the best rated one, but apparently there's a lot of great ... read more

Redman - Whut? Thee Album

Last time I checked the page for this album it wasn't a must hear, so congratulations to this album for reaching that point.
Sometimes I just sit back and try to comprehend on what I just listened to. This album definitely confused me severely, but all that I know - it bumps.. very.
This guy can actually make some really good music, I didn't even know that this guy even existed, but apparently he's not even some random, but an actual good rapper. I found out about him through ... read more

Thanks to @Casen for the recommendation

I actually really enjoyed this song, I found it really relaxing and there weren't any downsides about it. Thanks for putting me on some underground, I really appreciate that.

Chief Keef - Almighty So

I can't think of an original joke to start this review, Chief Keef got me this time..
I was looking for something more unique to add to my playlist, but I don't think anything from this album actually surprised me in any way, but hey, never too bad to try out something new.
Chicago Drill wasn't really ever a genre that I liked, but I'm also not really familiar with it, so I might have to check more albums like this hoping that they're gonna be somewhat better, but for ... read more

This album was definitely delicious (haha get it cuz its alfredo and alfredo is tasty so i like called the album delicious cuz it was good and its called alfredo and alfredo is tasty so like i made a funny joke about it)

I was thinking about listening to another Freddie Gibbs album because I like the ones I listened to in the past(a), so I decided to pick this one because it's the most popular choice from his discography, and I already knew that the production was gonna be great, well, ... read more

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter II

Random album wednesday #1 (i wont ever do this again, i just needed something to start the review)

I've heard a lot of love for Lil Wayne's music, so I decided to listen to something from him since I've never heard any song from him apart from A Milli.
This album probably won't be out-done by any other by Lil Wayne, but I've also heard that Da Drought 3 is his best project, so maybe I will listen to that one and see if it's really worth the hype.
But for now, I ... read more

OutKast - Idlewild

Discography #16 complete

I honestly didn't expect much from this album, but atleast I expected it to be somewhat decent, obviously since it's OutKast, the duo who has made plenty of legendary Hip Hop albums before. The content I got from this album was a lot worse than what I was hoping to end up with.
Very sad ending to OutKast's discography. They could've made a timeless project for their last one, but it ended up as their absolute worst album. Maybe they'll come ... read more

Speakerboxxx - 75/100
The Love Below - 70/100

I was very much expecting something good from this album, since it contains some of their biggest songs, and it has positive feedback from both critics and users.
Sure, it isn't bad, but there are quite a few low points, and very minimal high points for the amount of songs that are on this album. This was just unnecesarily long for some reason, and these could practically be two different albums.
The tracklist is overflown with plenty of ... read more

OutKast - Stankonia

I just can't stop myself from listening to OutKast albums, so I decided to simply listen to the rest of their discography, since I've already listened to half of it, why not finish it off?
This is supposedly their biggest album, and that's only because of one song in particular - Ms. Jackson. Worthy of the popularity, that song is absolutely legendary.
With that aside, I definetely expected a slightly better experience from this album than what I was left with. The second half of ... read more

Gang Starr - Moment of Truth

I really enjoyed Jazzmatazz Volume 1 so I decided to dig deeper into Guru's music, and I honestly never knew he was a member of a group. Apparently this is also one of the best Hip Hop albums in general, so yeah.
To be fair, this was amazing, the lyricism is exceptional, and paired with DJ Premier's production, they can definetely pull off a great duo project, I will definetely check out more albums from them in the future.
But actually, the way Guru points out all of the stuff ... read more

Westside Gunn - HEELS HAVE EYES 3

I've been looking forward to the release of this album, since I really enjoyed HWH8:SB, and I know a lot of people really like this guy's music too. This album didn't really surprise me in any way, I don't know if I'm not really familiar with his newer music or anything, but I simply didn't enjoy this as much as I did on his earlier music, which wasn't such a while ago. Maybe it's because this album was released 3 months after his previous one.
