the biggest thumbs down I have ever given
I haven't written a real review in like two days because I was busy, but I'm not anymore. I got a lot of reviews to write, starting with this one.
Annoying Orange was once a youtube sensation. He even collaborated with Weezer at the height fo his career. I guess I should say "their career," since, believe it or not, there are multiple people working on these videos. Probably not anymore though. The content output of this channel has become ... read more
Just the idea of combining metal and dubstep is so unholy that the band had to know this was gonna be trash from the beginning. The worst part about this is that there are genuinely nice moments of metal in between all the WWWAWAWAWA. There's no way a single person working on this project thought "yeah this'll totally change the game."
This album feels very steeped in angst. Earl's performances are very agitated, and the lyrics of this album are just angry at everything. A title has never been as accurate as this. Earl is pissed off and lonely for this whole project. The production may not be as creative as Some Rap Songs, but every other aspect works in this projects favor.
Old review:
The boys in their opera era. This album really is their best. Besides the obvious, this album is awesome and has some of their best songs.
I need to know when to shut up
R.I.P. Steve Albini
I can totally relate to this album
Steve is a musician I've only ever really heard about. I know he's an absolute legend, but I never decided to listen to his music until now. Listen I'm not exactly an expert on punk. I know even less about noise rock. To me it's just loud noise that sounds good. I won't be able to offer any insight as to how this is good compared to other works in the genre. Everything about this project is so raw. The vocals sound like they were recorded ... read more
Me when the Jazz album has less than five songs and they're all over ten minutes long
My favorite project from Miles. Each track moves in a way that keeps you interested while still building ambience. it isn't as menacing as Bitches Brew, but I found it to do much more than Kind of Blue. This album is the perfect in between of Miles' career. It serves as a spot between his avant-garde and his more accessible projects.
Say Sextant but remove the last four letters
Herbie Hancock very quickly became my favorite Jazz musician from my first listen of Head Hunters. That album was a flawless fusion of funk and Jazz. Each piece felt like some of the most skilled musicians just having fun together with their instruments. I didn't think I would find a better Jazz album, until I heard this.
The first thing that stood out was just how ahead of its time this album was. The first track sounds like a distorted version ... read more
Post-Nirvana '90s was a pretty mid period for pop music. Kurt Cobain had pop culture firmly in his hands even after he passed. Every record label was looking for the next big grunge act. Some of these groups did succeed in scratching that itch for me, but others did not.
The first thing I noticed about this album was the cover. I think it looks nice, even if it does use a very mid '90s alt rock font. When I saw that cover I almost instantly decided to listen to it, and just as immediately ... read more
