"Ode to the Mets" has one of the best, most moving outros I have ever heard. Chills. Also Julian's falsetto in "Eternal Summer" gave me heart palpitations.

Because it turned 1 yesterday. One of my favorite LPs of 2018. Emotionally honest, anecdotal, and courageous. While I agree that the production is nothing extraordinary, the minimal lo-fi sound of "Care For Me" complements its intimate lyrics and draws the listener into the achromatic world of Saba. Saba's lyricism and flow are phenomenal and there is real wisdom to draw from each track.

"This Life" is a lament disguised as a breezy, buoyant summer romp. The forlorn lyrics coupled with the jaunty instrumentation captures the fine line between feeling content and feeling forsaken. Sonically, it is very similar to Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl."
An underwhelming listen. I was hoping for either more of a live band / new-wave sound like FROOT or more experimentation. Overall, this is a slightly above average pop album. While her vocal delivery is good, the melodies are very uniform and the songs often follow the same standard pop song formula.
