#197 Rolling Stone’s “Greatest 500 Albums of All Time
It’s pretty goofy that Rolling Stone chose to use the version of this album that isn’t really considered part of their discography any longer as opposed to the actual version, however contextually it certainly makes sense.
I was surprised when I saw this was on the list over the previous Beatles albums - however it did end up being quite deserving of being on a list of this calibre. The only negative is that I ... read more

#199 Rolling Stone’s “Greatest 500 Albums of All Time
I watched the recent Pavements “bio-pic”/documentary alongside this album, as it being their third (and possibly final) album on the list I wanted to get a stronger foundational knowledge on this band.
‘Slanted’ is a debut that certainly wouldn’t land for everyone, taking a unique slacker and lack of caring approach to making music - I’m not sure if saying “intentionally playing ... read more

Officially entering the top 200 of the list with this amazing album! To be honest I did write off Sade from reappearing on the list after Love Deluxe already made a (considerably low) appearance, but I was definitely mistaken in that thought train.
This is unreal as a debut

This album is nothing short of a massive improvement on her already phenomenal previous album ‘Post’, delivering a generational performance and cementing her legacy once and for all - with more perfection still to come.

David Bowie highkey peaaakkk already. Side one of the tracklist is already quite experimental but then side two happens and it just blows me away. I definitely see this as a full listening experience as opposed to casually listening to the singles. My only problem with it is that I think it takes until after the first 2 tracks to really get started.

#208 Rolling Stone’s “Greatest 500 Albums of All Time
Feelings haven’t really changed since I last heard this, I do think the opening run of tracks is among the best in all of rap history, and the album slows down quite a bit starting with ‘Dr. Carter’, however the quality still remains mostly good. I like practically everything in ‘Phone Home’ except the chorus.

I enjoyed this more than the last time I revisited this album. Run-DMC were ahead of the curve and producing laps around their peers of early hiphop, displaying extremely energetic performances, ahead of their time production ability, and rhymes and raps that (for the most part) hold up today.
Plus there’s really no understating what doors securing that Aerosmith sample opened up for the genre.

Tom Petty’s second appearance on the list so far and within a short space following the first, which I enjoyed a tad more than this one.
Tom really channels his inner Bob Dylan on this record, even to the point of playing some harmonica briefly. While good, I think this left a bit to be explored and also remains consistent for the most part minus a brief stint in the middle I thought significantly slowed down the ... read more
