Squid - O Monolith
93

Squid really have outdone theirselves on this one. Essentially re-inventing their sound with more experimental, technical, and progressive elements while still maintaining their original charm which drew me into this group in the first place!

The intro track on this album sets the tone perfectly and really pulls you in on first listening with the odd time signature to the catchy hook. I also hear some elements of Ok Computer Radiohead on this one as well on the final refrain. Overall an ... read more

BrokenTeeth - 추락은 천천히 (How to Sink Slowly)

Theres something special happening in the Korean shoegaze scene right now. So many great acts and this one being one of my favorites along with Parannoul. Lots of great classic shoegaze sounds on this record and I find it to be tasteful in almost every instance. Definitely one of my favorites of the year so far!

Sunn O))) - Black One
90

This has to be one of the darkest albums ever made. This album is the definition of unsettling fear. The atmosphere it creates is absolutely unmatched and it keeps me coming back for more every time. Absolutely incredible record from sunn O))), definitely my favorite record by them. Absolutely massive sound and incredibly dark atmosphere.

Daughter - Stereo Mind Game

Pretty solid record from Daughters nothing super crazy but I enjoyed a good amount of the album

deathcrash - Less

Just discovered this band a few days ago and I'm really digging this sound! Love the fusion of slowcore, post-rock, and touches of some metal. Also has a fantastic flow and sequence! Would definitely recommend for people who enjoy their slowcore and post-rock!

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There
100

The first time I heard this album upon its release date, I was absolutely floored, awe struck, a complete mess, and I truly couldn't believe what I just heard. Genuinely sat in my car for a solid 20 minutes with my jaw to the floor and just in complete awe. And after living with this album for a little over a year now, I've gotta say, my feelings about this album haven't changed, but have probably grown even more so since. I can more than likely say that there hasn't been an album that has ... read more

Boris - Amplifier Worship

This whole album goes so hard its not even funny.

Boris - Boris at Last -Feedbacker-
99

Not sure if theres a heavier album than this one. Truly an absolute punishing sonic experience that is equally face-melting as it is euphoric. A Post-Metal masterpiece that will stand the test of time.

Radiohead - Kid A
100

Ive had a long lasting internal battle between this album and OK Computer for being the best Radiohead album but I think I've come to peace that this is the one. This is one of those rare moments in history where you see a band take such a massive and groundbreaking sonic risk and taking one of, if not THE biggest left turns in music history and it pays off in spades. Obviously, it took a while for the general public to realize how incredible this thing was and to appreciate it for what it is ... read more

Grouper - A I A : Alien Observer

This might be the most listened to album in my record collection for some time now. I am absolutely floored every time I listen to this, and it's companion album Dream Loss. Two fantastic examples of groundbreaking ambient/drone music. The way that Liz Harris writes and performs her music is so minimalist but creates a sound so otherworldly with her droning tape loops and heavily effected guitar and piano passages that it truly doesn't feel of this world or created by a human. My go to album ... read more

The Microphones - The Glow Pt. 2
100

The feeling this album gives me will never be able to be replicated in my opinion. One of the most breathtaking and immersive records I can say I've had the privilege of listening to. First listen I had no idea what to make of it and just sat in disbelief of how much of a cohesive yet so unhinged and messy experience I had. The songwriting that Phil taps into some of the most painful, personal, and manic in some cases I've ever heard but yet so indescribably healing and comforting at the same ... read more

BIG|BRAVE - nature morte
91

This was my introduction to Big Brave and I gotta say, this is some of the most unique music i've heard all year. Such a great mix of Drone Metal, Post-Metal, Sludge, and Post-Rock. The vocals are incredibly powerful and are reminiscent of folk and Americana and it fits so indescribably well on these tracks. Incredible album from an insanely underrated band!!

100 gecs - 10,000 gecs

Super fun album and some absolute bangers! There are a few tracks on here I would consider to be their best! A good sophomore offering from Dylan and Laura!

Black Country, New Road - Live at Bush Hall
87

If anyone had doubts of the band being able to move on in a positive direction after Isaac's departure, this definitely blew it out of the water. its going to be hard for any band to top what they did on Ants From Up There, they don't here but they add so much to the continuity of the sound of this record while adding many new aspects for a familiar but refreshed sound. I saw this live when they opened for black midi and I gotta say it was absolutely amazing from start to finish and I seriously ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES
88

This is Peggy at his greatest production wise. not sure how he does it but he seems to always blow expectations out of the water with each release creating something even more otherworldly with each listen. as soon as I heard these two were going to release an album I knew it would be something special. With Danny Browns witty and outlandish delivery and pen game, and Peggy's unreal production and flows this was bound to be a match made in heaven from the get go and it 100% lived up to the hype.

파란노을 [Parannoul] - After the Night
99

This is truly one of the most incredible live experiences captured to recording. Point blank period. I get chills every time I listen to this thing and don't even get me started on the 45+ minute rendition of Into The Endless Night. An absolute once in a lifetime performance! The only true gripe I could have with this if I was forced to give one is the noise section of the final track drags on a little bit but it still works so well with the flow of the track once given full context. If you ... read more

slowthai - UGLY
83

Probably the best example of a rapper taking a swing at a rock sound. Slowthai was made for this sound and he has shown flashes of this in previous projects prime example being Doorman from his debut. Not much to dislike here thoroughly enjoyed this one!

Caroline Polachek - Desire, I Want to Turn Into You
85

Incredible sophomore record from Caroline Polachek. Incredible intro and keeps me active and ready for the next track! Loved nearly every aspect of this album and it keeps getting better with every listen. A true pop genius at work here!
