Just a very mid album, weird how Nat King Cole can put a perfect song and a perfectly horrible song on the same album. Then everything else is bland jazz. Not a big fan.
In my opinion the weakest Tribe album which is saying something that it's still pretty good. I think the rapping isn't of the quality of past projects and the story doesn't mesh quite as well but you're still left with some very memorable tracks and given another taste of that west coast flavor mixed with the culture and positivity brought up by Tribe throughout the years.
Cench and Dave are the here and now of UK Rap and I think they prove it on this album. The first 3 songs are all bangers and it’s only weighed down by the final track. Either way I’m a big fan of these two artists collaborating and I think it’s some of the best written, witty, and fun to listen to rap, that we got in 2023
The Chi-Lites were recommended by a friend but I knew I would like them immediately. I love the soulful silky sound of their songs and this project is just really good at it. Hints of Earth, Wind, and Fire as well as the Jackson 5, the main downfall on this record is its unoriginal songwriting even for the time. Still some great tracks and a nice soulful feel that isn’t promoted a lot in the community.
I don’t care if this is a 4 song deluxe, it’s so fucking good. HERMANOS might be my fav song peggy has ever made and Tell Me Where to go is an amazing rapping performance. The production on the final track is great and the intro has a lot of energy and perfectly encapsulates the scaring the hoes energy.
I actually really like detroit rap, artists like Babytron and Rio are interesting and a fun listen. Yachty does decent on these beats. But they’re so repetitive and it is geniunely nothing special. There’s no bars that really hit you hard and the beats aren’t anything heavenly. There’s about 3 pretty good songs and the rest are kind of the same average mix.
It’s simple, it’s relatable in moments, it’s innocent, sometimes catchy. Yet despite all this the boring moments in this album outweigh it all and bring it down. I would recommend for a light listen or if you’re a fan of soft rock but overall didn’t do it for me.
I really really like this project, I have little to no critiques except the fact that it is a compilation so it’s not really able to tell a story, and someone of the songs are just good, which I know is crazy to say but the majority of this album is great, borderline amazing. Big Smiths fan and this a project I go back to and relisten to very often.
Do I hate Kanye West, yes, do I think this album is pretty good, yes. I want to make it very clear this review is of the music and I enjoyed this project a lot. I was pleasantly surprised. I think where some people are hating unnecessarily and some are praising that this is the return of prime Kanye, I’m somewhat in the middle. I liked it, and there are a handful of tracks I love as well as a handful I don’t love.
There’s just so much here it really doesn’t feel like an album. I think at its best it’s creative and eerie and hype as hell and there were points I loved it and points I hated it, but when doing this review it really just fell into the middle, I’m ok with it, I wouldn’t mind if Carti continued in this direction but if he went back to the Die Lit era I’d be good with that too. I’m just happy he’s making music to be honest, it’s not amazing ... read more
Alright here comes the hate, this album is not bad, it’s pretty good conscience hip hop with soulful loops and a decent group of features with some R&B elements. But if I wanted a project like this I would look elsewhere, D Smoke is a talent for sure and I’m glad he’s gotten critical recognition but for me I would just rather listen to a better album in this genre. It’s like everything D Smoke does someone else has done or is currently doing better, and he ... read more
Bakar offers some great tracks on this 6 song EP but not enough for me to really love it. It does however show a lot of promise and show his talented songwriting capabilities and his unique vocals. Bakar will be in the industry for a long time to come but as an introduction to his music for me I was happy with this.
Might be my hottest take, this album is just ok, the production is great, the rapping is eh but what takes it down is the meandering track list. I loved the chronic because 1 it’s more my style with G Funk and 2, it’s to me an almost perfect album listen through. 2001 is a true hit parade for Dr Dre but those hits make people forget about the too frequent misses in the track list. Could take time to grow on me but a let down following the Chronic which I loved.
Boring, some beautiful parts ruined by boring lyrics, songs are repetitive and the Last Friday Night Cover is the first 0/10 song I’ve listened to while ranking albums. I’m not saying everything is bad but if it isn’t straight up bad it’s boring.
Honestly, Polo G is a good rapper, but when you choose ass beats, unneeded features, wayyy too long of an album, and only 2 or 3 actual hits, you’re gonna get a bad album. I know he can do so much better, I’m just confused why he decided to put some of these songs on here, as a 12-13 song album this would be decent. But it’s the definition of biting off more than you can chew.
purely based off of the 3 tracks in this EP, it slaps. The first two are just pure hard ass bar for bar beat for beat rap bangers, and the last one is just ok. I know it’s a really small sample size but I’m really loving what Luh Tyler is doing and get excited for every drop. Shout out young florida jit.
To be clear this is a review of the 3 bonus tracks. I mean not much to offer here but it’s not horrible, the Dior Remix is Ok, I like Pops verse on wolves but NAV sells and Like Me is just like, meh. RIP Smoke but the woo has been let down again sadly.
To be completely clear this is just a rating of the 6 songs off the deluxe. This is the Drake I know and love, just a little watered down which is ok for me. Even though for the most part every bonus track, except You Broke My Heart, has a similar feel I love the beat selection and Drakes storytelling is great in a song like Red Button and then just ok in something like Wick Man. A solid deluxe with another great J Cole feature. Purely based off the six songs I’m happy with the drop.
