What a fucking great record to start 2020! Poppy's heavy, genre-blending, pop fuckery on this album is amazing. From the heavy metal guitars and strong NIN influences, to the brilliant upbeat synth laced sections, all pulled together creatively and kept cohesive by Poppy's voice and lyrics, being more aggressive but also more human and honest than ever! Brilliant album I'm so happy I discovered recently. Ravenna has been intriguing me with her newer singles but I wasn't aware she had a complete body of work out and it's a brilliant, dark, vibey pop record with amazing often trap based production and good songwriting. Great stuff!

MGMT are independent now and continuing with the gothic sounds they somewhat explored on Little Dark Age but now with a more organic sound. Love the synths and piano work! The bass line sounds very grungy and Nirvana-esque which was interesting and adds to the aesthetic of the tune. Hope they can follow through with an album in this style.

Holy shit this single has me ready for The Slow Rush, it's like the perfect combo of the individual vibes Lonerism and Currents give off! The first half is very dense and quite gothic for Tame Impala standards, with some fantastic build ups and amazing transitions. The second half I may prefer, a vibey piece focusing on atmosphere and Kevin's vocal melodies. It sounds like Currents with the hip-hop influenced drum loop but like, it's even better!
