The verses kinda remind me of some Mutemath stuff which is always good, but it sounds absolutely nothing like Billie Joe at that part, which is also very off-putting. How? How did this happen? Patrick Stump has auto tune on his vocals. Wyclef Jean is on the track, and he doesn’t even fit. With one less bassist and one less drummer, you’d expect this album to be less heavy than Filth, but they’ve only managed to make it more heavy, and with the lyrical content, more sickening.
The band’s sound didn’t evolve much between the last album and this, but you can definitely tell the difference in sound between Filth and Cop, as Cop manages to be considerably more repetitive and harsh on the listener, which does lead to there being a slight decrease in quality ... read more
The first half of this is just banger after banger, and while the second half isn’t as magnificent, it’s still really goddamn good!
Scattered among these many bangers are more low-key tracks that are just perfect at building up this atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re floating in space, with Nightvision being just the perfect example of this.
