Happy 30 years!

I’m not really a fan of gangsta rap, but this album left me very pleasantly surprised. Obviously this album is iconic and a classic, but I never had plans to listen to this until I saw it was the 30th anniversary. I’m glad I made the decision to, because I really enjoyed this. Biggie was just a really good rapper, his flows and lyrics are great (mostly), and he has a great voice. The production on here is also amazing, it just has everything you need to be a good ... read more

Album swap with @Skiido

Final genre: Pop

What am I supposed to do with this? How is this real? Are my ears even experienced enough to comprehend this? I can’t believe what I just listened to. I just finished “LONG SEASON”, and I am stunned. This is some of the most entrancing, serene, and fucking beautiful music I have ever heard. Fishmans is a band I have known about for a good while, and LONG SEASON is a song I have heard about for a while as well. I have always been ... read more

Album swap with @Skiido

Genre #3: Jazz

I’ve been wanting to review this for so long, there were times when I would even start the album and get a few minutes in, but then have to stop for one reason or another. When I was given this album for the album swap, I couldn’t wait to try it. Well I finally listened to it, and it was not what I was expecting. This isn’t loud or explosive jazz (not even the song called “Vein Melter”), it’s smooth, and laid back jazz ... read more

Album swap with @Skiido

Genre #2: Rock

I’ve only heard one album from Gorillaz, that being Plastic Beach, and I loved that album. Although this isn’t as good, I still enjoyed it.

“Feel Good Inc.” is probably my favorite track on this project, it’s literally iconic, the production on it is perfect, and the vocals are great for the most part. I want to mention “November Has Come” as well though, it’s the only other track on this album other than ... read more

Album swap with @Skiido

Genre #1: Hip Hop

Man, OutKast is just so good. I recently made the best purchase of my life, buying some limited edition OutKast Crocs off of eBay, and ever since then I’ve wanted to listen to this album, but haven’t found a good time. I was very excited when @Skiido gave me this album for this genre/album swap, so here are my thoughts.

I’m definitely not disappointed. Though this project can be a bit slow at times (at least for OutKast standards), ... read more

So I finally decided to check out Tribe’s debut album, and I could not be happier with what I got.

I’ve made it pretty obvious how big of an ATCQ fan I am, yet I have only actually heard 3 of their albums. “Can I Kick It?” is easily one of the best Tribe songs of all time, the sampling is absolutely incredible, and it’s easily the most iconic Tribe song. Can I Kick It isn’t the only track worth mentioning though, there were plenty of amazing standouts. ... read more

Q-Tip producing an album in 2024? Literally how would I not check this out

Anyways yeah it’s pretty good. I expected a lot from the production (obviously), and I am satisfied. Q-Tip had some backing vocals throughout the project and even a hook on one song, so that leads me to ask: Q-TIP WHEN TF ARE WE GOING TO GET THOSE 3 SOLO ALBUMS YOU SAID YOU PLANNED TO MAKE?!?!?!? Anyways enough about Q-Tip, time to actually talk about the music.

For the most part, this album is great. Especially ... read more

Finally doing a request from @sushidigital because I’m ready to give another 100

I actually really like jazz music, I don’t listen to a lot of it but the stuff I have heard is great. This sounds amazing for the EARLY 60S. It’s so smooth and polished, each instrument can be heard clearly, none of the sounds in this album sound like something added just to be in the background.

The instruments themselves on here sound incredible. It’s actually pretty hard to describe ... read more

GY!BE is a band that I haven’t explored nearly as much as I would like to, so I decided I would give this a try. It’s fairly short for a GY!BE album, and it has “Mladic”, a song that I have heard amazing things about. I think it’s safe to say I wasn’t disappointed, Mladic was absolutely insane, and “We Drift Like Worried Fire” was also incredible.

There are two interlude tracks that sadly bring down the album a bit for me, they aren’t bad ... read more

Thanks to @B307 for the recommendation

I am a big fan of jazz rap, and I heard of this album but barely looked into it, so I’m glad I finally have a chance to listen to it. This album is great, the instrumentals are very chill and laid back, and the vocals are amazing. “Runnin’” is easily the best here, the instrumental is incredible, the hook is great, and the rapping is amazing. I can’t find anything negative to say about it. There are some other great tracks ... read more

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown - SCARING THE HOES

Two terminally online experimental hip hop artists come together to make a collab album, no wonder they are scaring the hoes

Both artists being terminally online actually helps with this project though, they spend so much time watching random shit on the internet that they can put together the most random samples that actually go hard, like the garbage pale kids samples a random Asian commercial and it goes so crazy

I wish this could have been more consistent, the first few tracks were ... read more

LIFT TO EXPERIENCE ALBUM DEEP DIVE #1: Finale

I didn’t really care for a lot of the religious themes throughout this project, I’m just here for the post-rock and that goofy album cover, which I honestly don’t have a problem with. But anyways the post-rock is pretty decent, it uses a lot more drums than a lot of post-rock I listen to, and honestly the drums are a pretty good addition.

The vocals here weren’t great here, and the lyricism sucked, but the instrumentals ... read more

It’s a great album.

the quality of the autotune heavily dictates my opinion on almost every pop album I hear, and this having minimal autotune was such a breath of fresh air, especially after brat. I personally hated brat. I really don’t like Charli xcx’s personality, and the autotune was my own personal hell. Anyways this is fantastic, especially the production.

The production is the best this year, it’s not even a contest. I just like synth in general, it’s ... read more

TA13OO IS AMAZING | TA13OO 1Z AMAZ1NG

I’ve been wanting to listen to this for a while, mmesyf was incredible, and I can confidently say this was even better. I feel like the more pop rap focused track were the best on here such as “BLACK BALLOONS” and “SIRENS”, but the hardcore rap songs were also amazing. Denzel Curry is aver impressive artist, the production on his projects is always amazing, and his wild and intense vocals are very fun. I don’t normally ... read more

He did it. Ronnie Radke invented WELL THIS AIN’T NO RADIO SONGCore.

If you want to listen to this album do yourself a favor and watch all of the music videos. There are only 3 tracks at the moment without one, and the videos give you much more to talk about, and also keep you (partially) sane. Some things to note from the videos are: accurate size Jelly Roll, Ronnie Radke driving a car into a giant monster’s mouth during the zombie apocalypse, Ronnie Radke killing satan and then ... read more

125TH REVIEW/RATING AND APHEX TWIN ALBUM DEEP DIVE #6: Finale (For Now)

As of writing this, “Syro” is the most recent Aphex Twin album. It was released 13 years after “DrukQs”, so the pressure of releasing another album after that long must have been high. I can safely say it did not disappoint.

This album leans more into the techno aspect than any other Aphex Twin album, it feels much for futuristic and modern. The drums on this album are incredible, they sound ... read more

APHEX TWIN ALBUM DEEP DIVE #5: Heavy DrukQs

“DrukQs” was released 5 years after “Richard D. James Album”, being the longest wait between albums yet. (foreshadowing) This is the second longest Aphex Twin album yet, being 1 hour and 40 minutes long, but it easily has the most amount of tracks, being 30 tracks long. This of course means there are some very short tracks, most of them being the lower points of the album. I love the fast paced, intense vibe of some of the ... read more

My face when I heard the Lightworks beat on one of the tracks: 🤯😱😧

I am a huge ATCQ fan, and Busta Rhymes has had plenty of fantastic features on their songs, so to see Q-tip and Busta Rhymes had a collab mixtape was a pleasant surprise. Sadly it’s not on Spotify, but you can pretty easily listen to it on YouTube. This is obviously a Busta Rhymes album. Q-tip is on the majority of the tracks, but Busta Rhymes has much more time on each one. That doesn’t mean Q-tip does bad ... read more

APHEX TWIN ALBUM DEEP DIVE #4: Spooky Face 2

This is like the interlude of Aphex Twin’s discography, it’s only 30 minutes long, in which the average Aphex Twin album is about 1 hour and 15 minutes. I do think this album is not to be overlooked, it sounds amazing. The main thing I noticed during this album was the strange sense of nostalgia. It feels like something I have heard before, yet I can’t pinpoint exactly what. I also love the sounds in general on this album, Aphex ... read more
