This was a big bowl of feelings. The album encapsulates all melancholy one feels for life and for the past. Not sure how to express my feelings for this one, I heard it at a time in my life when I needed it the most and it has been stuck with me since. I'm afraid if I say anything at all about this album I'll convey my emotions in the wrong way. I can't really pin-point a favorite moment on this because the journey is that good. But if I had to pick a favorite moment it would be ... read more
Such an upgrade from the original experience. Features a lot more glitchy and surprising production and composing choices, this is really a thrilling and exciting listen. Eliminate always know how to push the buildups and emotions to the max and here you can really taste his craftsmanship, an EDM genius in my eyes, give this thing a listen after the original and you'll know what I'm talking about!
What can I say about an album as complex as this? As complex as it is I must say that it shines it's light on me with precision, it's a very engaging listen and one that is very delicate on the ears, the guitar melodies on this might be simple but the drumming elevates the progresion of the tracks quite a lot, the drums feel like the lyrics for these tracks if that makes sense, they play with the mellow melodies the guitars establish while not drowning them completely. Some tracks ... read more
Grog had a rather weak start for me, some of the other tracks throughout didn't do much for me either. I feel like some of these songs lack a little bit on the vocals, I like this type of singing but I needed some of that playfullness. Aside from that it goes without saying that the instrument recordings are quite well done, the drums are for sure a stand-out, they're punchy and wrap the songs quite well. My favorite moments on this would be "Black on Black on Black" with ... read more
Insane delivery, sometimes prefer this better than the original track
Lovely mixes on this album. The crispy drums the tracks have layer quite well with the airy atmosphere of it all. Love the title-track, vocal work is insane on that one. I recommend this album if you want a mediocre day to turn out for the best, good stuff
What a ride. A huge compilation of schizophrenic instrumentals and witty lyrics. The lyrics and the storytelling are definitely a stand-out. The instrumentals are great but they made my head hurt at times and not in a good way. The second half of the record is the weakest in my opinion but it has some tracks that remind me quite a lot of Aphex Twin, and funny enough, Michael name dropped Richard D. James which I found quite funny. My favorite moments would be "Майор ... read more
This sounds so haunting to me, it has some really long progressions and big atmospheres, this can finally go in my playlist of good drones, even though there weren't as many as I expected
I really enjoyed the choppy and aery production. Some tracks had really interesting vocal chops and textured layers of sound. The synths have a very big analog feeling to them, reminded me a lot of some old EDM tracks that have that feeling going for them. Favorite moments would probably be "CMYK" and "Footnotes", both have some incredibly catchy plucks that made the tracks that much more enjoyable
HUGE! This has some really soothing melodies and samples used, there really weren't many low points here, pretty much everything is amazing and very re-listenable. I listened to this last night right before sleep on my house's roof with the city looking back at me, immaculate vibes, I must say. I get why people love this man's production, getting into this head first is great
THIS DUDE DOESN'T MISS! Honestly, I've never heard music sound like this before, this has some heavily creative textures and patterns, everything is fresh and refreshing, just as it should be! Everything is a highlight here, for me the biggest highlight was the closer which just puts everything in a capsule and signs it, lovely! Both "Come To Daddy" mixes were great, it surprised me how heavy the first one is
Yeah, this made me lower my speaker volume mid listen, some of this is just a little too rough at times, I like rough but this one is different, you just have to trust me. This one felt really claustrophobic, it just kept beating you over the head with those drums and those synths, quite exciting
This one was full bright sounds, unlike the previous works this one doesn't sound like it's coming from a bunker. The beats and synths here are different, quite sparkly, especially on the first track which sets the tone for pretty much everything else. The third track was unexpected, I kept waiting for a huge beat to come in but it didn't, that was a twisted orchestration
This is serious! How crazy do you have to be to come up with such beats. This has a heavy metallic taste going for it, made me feel like I'm in a bunker entering an underground rave. By the way, the hat game is ON POINT for these tracks! The first and third track gave me a huge asian vibe from the instruments used, good mix!
This was my first introduction to Aphex Twin! Very heavy, very crunchy and with lots of industrial elements. Gets you in a dancing mood real quick! The drums are perfect on this. My main issue might be that the last track just overstays it's welcome but that might be me
SKRILLEX LIVES! Holy cuts dude! This album has a bunch of them! Love how passionate this project feels, it oozes of the good Brostep and has huge 2014 vibes with some of these tracks! DJ Smokey is right, you should listen to this album from start to finish! Only problem with this record would be that some of these ideas remain unexplored or under-explored, some moments did feel weak but this still feels strong. I honestly thought that I would get bored of DJ Smokey real quick but thank God, ... read more
Extremely "in you face" production and execution. Love the roughness from this and how those little bursts of energy come in between some great, at time peaceful moments. Good release
Very mellow and groovy, puts you in a trance real quick having very catchy moments through and through. It explores a lot of interesting textures along the way, bubbly and percussive sounds fill the space in every track. If you don't like this album then get a calculator and fix yourself!
My favorite moments here were: "Too Many Kids Finding Rain in the Dust", "Keep Me There" and "Balance Her in Between Your Eyes"
