Slay indeed. What a piercing record, I love deconstructed club that sounds eerily percussive. Some of the sounds here remind me of field recordings that some other artists would layer over their synths. This EP has a lot of character and feels pretty much like the album cover looks, should make sense when you're heard this.
This is definitely a record to look out for if you love exploring new and complex sound. This record is noisy and prickly in all the good ways. I love the pluckiness of it as well, this has some incredible synths that evolve in a very natural way and don't get boring for the listener. Also the different ambient-like drones that are here are lovely, I love good drones. Another thing I can tell you about this is the sampling I hear on the second track, it fits quite well as the background of ... read more
DAMN. This has a lot of things to say and I think it said what it needed to say without really stretching it over the top. What I found listening to this project is the feeling of living a sludge life. This makes me understand Kendrick's character a little more, why he is where he is and how he accomplished getting there. In this album you can find powerful exercises on a lot of topics that I feel are relevant to almost anyone listening. Another thing that I would like to mention are the ... read more
DJ Rozwell's "NONE OF THIS IS REAL" is a gift that keeps on giving! Atmospherically complex compositions and sample flipping is my cup of tea. This has it's moments of drone cuts and a lot of hip-hop instrumentals filled with dreamy synths, detuned synths, chiptune synths, LOTS OF SYNTHS! The drone cuts here are noisy and remind me a lot of tape music in a way, yet some of them keep switching between drone and live recordings very tastefully. The hip-hop cuts are insane, ... read more
Really enjoyed the project as a whole. The crunchy instrumentals, clever eerie synth design and drum recordings are amazing. All of the tracks' progressions have lots of melodies that take you to outer space, the detuning of the synths and the captivating sound selection are to be praised. The inclusion of acoustic drums to the mixes makes synthwave sound like never before, I love when electronic music has sounds that blend the acoustic with the electronic. I recommend this EP for what it ... read more
I love the stuttering bass on this track and the minimalism of this piece makes you focus on the elements it wants, it doesn't have a ridiculously complex composition or walls of sound but this is just good EDM, really wish I could have an extended version of this but I don't complain. Skrillex really forgot how to make good music for a little while but I think that this single and the new album prove that he still got it! (Don't Get Too Close sucks though, I'm talking about ... read more
Yeah, this is one of those instances I give something 100. This song blends a funky groove with a melancholic feel quite well. The instrumental is superb, using very funky melodies with what it has, this is good use of resources. The lyrics also convey that melancholic feel that I mentioned earlier, they make me feel kind of lonely though, the lyrics are definitely something one should pay attention too, I fell like they send an interesting message.
Let's start by saying that the saturated sound of the drums and the guitar hit hard, there's that sweet distortion that gives the first track a lot of harmonic value and makes it hit harder. I really like how alive the first track is, it's constantly breathing and saying something, those roomy percussions and sound effects help quite a lot in telling the story, IT'S A SONG ABOUT THE SUNSHINE!
The second track got is basically what brought me here, I was searching for some ... read more
Yeah, quite heartbreaking. The main story about his friend lying to him about drug abuse and about his current state in life hurts quite a lot. The composition of this is quite great, you can't deny that the beat switches and the different sections this has have very smooth and interesting transitions. In the end all the different sections come along quite well on a track that is one of my favorite pieces of music out there. Sometimes you have to remember the people you surround yourself ... read more
Pretty solid danceable track, the vocal work is great and the instrumental has many interesting layers to analyze. Glad I remembered this exists
Doesn't really feel like FlyLo imo. The synths are great as usual but the evolution is not really there as I see it
Usually I don't appreciate trap music that much but Travis' production is the thing that drives this album forward. My main issue with this project are the lyrics as throughout this project I felt like the lyrics didn't have much to say. There's only a certain amount of times you can tell us about popping pills before it gets annoying. Anyway, the production on this is epic, big and noisy which I love, the vocal work is a thing to be admired too. The ability to create such ... read more
WHAT THE FUCK... Going from a 70 on "Homework" to a 100 on this one has me mesmerized. This record had the ability to make me dance, to make me relax and to make me cry. If you have a record that makes me cry that gets extra points for connecting with me on a humen level. Can't believe big boxes that produce sound could make one cry but they totally can. I look forward to listening everything else Daft Punk related in the near future!

Man, I'm a little disappointed in this record, not really what I was expecting. I never listened to a Daft Punk album and this first project kind of left me with the desire for more. I really admire the hability of making such catchy grooves and basslines but some moments get undermined by the repetition some of these tracks have. I get why "Around The World" is a hit, even when it uses repetitive elements it know how to evolve over time and develop the idea further. On the other ... read more
Well, what can I say? This was an interesting project, it has A LOT of variety in each track to the point where your brain doesn't know which melody to remember, but I think that's cool, makes the project highly relisteneable.
Favorite moments: "Whiting The Palms Of A God" was a whirlwind of ideas and great sound design, my favorite part might be the outro where you can hear some great percussion and work on the drums, very creative and just goes crazy in general. ... read more
Never thought that sampled commercials would sound so great. The overlay of textures on each track is just amazing and experimentation is through the roof with this one. Also love the vaporwave appeal.
Favorite moments: "Andro" was a crazy introduction to this project, really hooking you into this electric cluster of sounds. "Up" was a great one too, I love how it starts with this repetitive yet fun sample to later deconstruct it into some weird atmospheric noise. Finally ... read more
I'm really happy FlyLo didn't forget about us and instead created a pretty atmospheric and hypnotic track for our ears. I'm really hoping that this is just a fraction of another (bigger) project in the works.
On this track we hear punchy synths and melodies, I love the development of some of them happening in the background. The lyrics on this are really great too, the vocal work as well even though I thought some moments were out of place, like a very short vocoder effect that ... read more
This album is a continuous stream of ideas and thoughts put on paper that I really appreciate. I think he takes more than enough time to develop the ideas he has on here, even though I feel a bit interrupted by the tracks' abrupt endings. The emotional impact of the themes is quite great, ranging from breakup to alcohol abuse to his father's death.
Favorite moments: "December 24" is a great example of mind over matter, spitting great rhymes about what sounds like ordinary ... read more
