This is dub techno 101. Not a single moment where the sound coming through your system doesn't impress you. This is so raw, so stripped down, yet so amazingly complex and full of new sounds to explore. I re-listened to this record at least ten times before writing this and I still have few words to say about how amazing it is, it's a compilation of the best dub techno you will ever hear, I haven't heard much but I know that it will be hard to knock this one from my number one ... read more

We got drumless dubstep this year?

If you ask me, I think that if you want to enjoy an album in another lenguage you need to have at least the understanding of what the singers are saying because there's a certain way we understand messages and how people frame them, we internalize more of what's being said when we actually hear the words instead of just reading the translation. Thankfully for me, I know russian.

This album has some visceral and almost grotesque lyrics almost all of the time, the words hit in a very ... read more

Iglooghost - Tidal Memory Exo

Interesting. This has a mix of that bubbly aesthetic that Iglooghost has with a little bit of that industrial sound, really fitting if you ask me. The cover explains the album sound quite well, it sounds almost exactly as you would expect. This doesn't get stale and it actually puts you in a mood for dancing, really groovy breaks and empowering sounds all throughout, very rewarding listen. My favorite moments were: "Spawn01", it feels like it's constantly sucking you in then ... read more

Lil Darkie - i'm going CRAZY

Wow, mellow and powerful at times and heartbreaking in the best moments, this single is fantastic, really well developed. The instrumental sections are fantastic and well differentiated. The lyrics about loosing his grandfather are sad and are framed in a very mature way, the vocal flow is fantastic, not many bad things to say about this, good single and the album is great as well, you should check it out!

Grischa Lichtenberger - And IV [Inertia]

Didn't expect the kind of thrill I eventually got out of this. I heard a couple of singles from this project and today I wanted to check it out. The start is a little mild in it's impact but everything picks up past the few tracks in the beginning. This project is filled with a lot of glitch, microsound and enormous soundscapes. This is a good electronic blend, few tracks feel out of place and this is overall a great experience, will be checking it out a couple more times in the near ... read more

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

What can I really say about this, there's not much need to overanalyze this album. There isn't really a miss on this and everything I have to say about this is praise. The devil lies in the details and I think that this album proves that not only in it's execution but in the lyrics too, the music industry seems a lot different when you take a step back and look at the big picture. I truly feel like this album is a warning, a warning to take a look and think before commiting to ... read more

Headache - The Head Hurts but the Heart Knows the Truth

Why do I love this so much? This is a pretty interesting monologue from a hurt man and his observations of visions of his past and his thoughts on ending his life, there's a lot to analyze and to listen here so I'll be revisiting this. I have to say how crisp everything sounds though, and the poetry is sweet, doesn't interfere with the instrumental work at all, he gives the instrumentals and his mind proper time to speak. Favorite moments: "The Beginning of the End" and ... read more

The Avalanches - Since I Left You

"Since I Left You" felt like a storm. I might feel that way because I was walking home through a storm while listening to this for the first time. And just like a storm this album is intense and all over the place when it feels like it. This record ramps up, explodes and then continues on flowing. I really like the fact that all the track have a seamless transition between them, they are all part of the storm, even at its calmest. I enjoyed this criminally insane record through and ... read more

"Amazingly simple" was the quote that was resonating in my head while listening to this. It's soulful, it's groovy and it's fun. All the tracks are sweet soundscapes that sound like the band is playing in your room, the layering seems like this is quite complex but as I said before, this is amazingly simple. I love how this album made me feel, it made my day THAT much better. This album is minimalist as it is detailed, this was crafted with a lot of love, I can tell. ... read more

Very good stuff! I enjoyed how all of the tracks start of fairly simple or minimal at times but get progressively more chaotic and industrial sounding, growing more "hateful" by the minute, reminds me a lot of some punk acts I've heard in the last years

Actually really good textures on this one! Feels like fried screaming some of the time which I like, the rest is very textured and hurts to listen to, love it

ZHU - The Nightday EP

Wonderful! It has very heavy nostalgic vibes and nightlife feels. I urge you to take a listen, there are some immediate classics on this! Best moments for me were "The One" with it's very sweet vocal work and synths. "Cocaine Model" is the track that brought me here, it's melancholic and deep, never get tired of it and always in love when I listen to it, it encapsulates everything great about this EP, the sound selection, the variety and catchy hooks, good stuff!

I was saving my words about this project for a little too long as I love it a little too much. I'm a big minimalism enjoyer and this album has everything there is to love about minimalism. The evolution of sound throughout some of these tracks is unreal. It's crazy to imagine that this was made back in 1999, it takes a really good ear to arrange sound in the way these two did. The majority of the synths feel like they are speaking to you, and they have a lot to say, they take their ... read more

Duskus - Healers Vol. 1

This somehow reminds me of those copyright free mixes on YouTube that would also play in the mall. Good stuff though! This is pretty clean regarding sound design and sctructure, this would be a cool summer jam, it got me grooving for a long while, this is something worth coming back to. As good as the majority of this is, "Moss" was not that good, some of the atmospheric elements on the track are a little too present and overpower the mix easily. Aside from that this had a lot of good ... read more

Alex Banks - Blue Gold

Yeah! This was a cool compilation with some cool artists that I enjoy. I had this in my library for quite a while now and decided to check it out today. There are a lot of groovy drum programming and clever sound selection. As much as I loved the EP, there were some slight hiccups that I caught. "Vire" was the biggest hiccup on this, for some reason I couldn't stand this track, it's progression doesn't feel as good as the following tracks and made me think this project ... read more

Ecco2k - E

There are a lot of really sweet moments and etheral soundscapes created but I feel like some of them fall behind. This might not be my cup of tea but I think it could sound a whole lot better. I've heard other works from him and I think this is not the album to represent the craft. Some favorite moments would probably be "Calcium" with it's almost thumping chords. "Security!" has quite a dreamy arpeggio that I enjoy, and the vocals are a really good touch. ... read more

Thom Yorke - The Eraser

This is actually the first material I'm hearing from Thom Yorke, but I felt like this would be a good introduction to some of his works. The Eraser is a very vast experience, with lots of awesome vocal work and production. The production is totally a stand-out, having a lot of variety yet keeping the ideas clean and well developed. The Eraser doesn't loose focus, I feel like it is very cohesive on what it is trying to say. From what I picked up, this album talks about some ... read more
