Opeth - §1

I usually don't freak out over new songs from bands I like. I'm usually vibe and go, 'that was pretty neat.'

Bro, when I heard the growls, I fell out of my chair. I was genuanly not expecting growls to appear in any new albums from Opeth ever again, but I'm glad I was proven wrong. I'm especially glad that the music fits with the sound of the growls. Michael's growls aren't as powerful as they used to be, but they are still pretty good and the music ... read more

Ice Spice - Y2K!

This album is bad. Don’t get it twisted, it ain’t good.

That said, I wonder if people are really dogging on this because it’s Ice Spice. Ice Spice has had a spotty reputation from her inception. I never really liked any of her music, but it never really reached complete dogshit territory. Even now, as bad as this album is, it isn’t nearly as bad as other albums released this year.

Hip-Hop as a fan base really does obsess over the artists making the music, sometimes ... read more

Taylor Swift - Red (Taylor's Version)

I think everyone at this point knows why Taylor rereleased her albums. What I want to talk about is what separates the original albums from these “Taylor’s Versions.”

I’m going to be honest, most of these versions have very little differences from the original (Fearless) or are just straight up downgrades from the original (Speak Now) and (1989). There really hasn’t been much artistic liberty with these rereleases besides different production and some new ... read more

Taylor Swift - Red

This is the first album that feels like Taylor’s songwriting catches up with the crisp production. There are a lot of bangers on this album and even if the deep cuts don’t really match the level of the hits, they are at least enjoyable.

Good soup 👍

Taylor Swift - Fearless (Taylor's Version)

It’s the same album but sounds better and more songs, so a little bump in score for that.

Taylor Swift - Speak Now

It’s kinda crazy how much Enchanted smashes every other song on this album. Like the other songs are fine, but Enchanted fucking rips and really is the only song on this album I ever come back to.

I do think this album sounds a lot better that the previous two albums in her discography, with crisp drum beats and a pretty solid guitar soundscape. Issue is that Enchanted feels like the main song that benefits from this upgrade in sound as Enchanted is itself Swift upgrading her songwriting.

Taylor Swift - Fearless

Love story goes hard ngl.

Rest of the deep cuts don’t do a lot for me. This album is a slight improvement from the debut, but pop country Swift doesn’t do a lot for me besides the nostalgia hits.

Marvin Gaye - What's Going On
100

The power of this album isn’t just its positivity, but how it uses it. It doesn’t ignore the issues plaguing the world, in fact, it directly acknowledges a ton of them.

However, it’s hopefulness is inspiring and powerful, making a statement that things can only get better if we face these challenges head on and with a positive attitude.

Even today, with plenty of issues plaguing the world, some things have changed for the better from facing them head on with a positive ... read more

Gnaw Their Tongues - GENOCIDAL MAJESTY

This album started off really strong. This shit genuinely made me uneasy and got me breathing quicker than normal with that first song.

Then I got used to it and it just faded away. Once you get used to this album’s one trick, it becomes stale and even unlistenable.

Mayhem - De mysteriis dom Sathanas
10

When your reputation is known more than the quality of your music, you know you've fucked up.

Yes, this is a very influential album in the black metal scene, and I'm sure some of my favorite black metal albums would not exist if this album was never made.

Yet, pioneering a sound does not make you a master of it. I absolutely cannot stand the vocals and the mixing, even by black metal standards, is nearly unlistenable to me. So many other bands do what this band does, but just so ... read more

Knocked Loose - A Tear in the Fabric of Life

I think their newest album proved that they had more to grow with their sound, as I do think YWGBYST sounds bigger and, somehow, heavier than this EP. With that said, this album's story and concept is immaculate and really did resonate with me.

It an excellent EP from metal's most exciting act right now.

CaptainSparklez - Revenge

Fuck that stupid piece of shit creeper bruh dude had it comin'.

So are 200 Stab Wounds like the sequel to 100 Gecs?

$uicideboy$ - New World Depression

Even though it goes hard in some places, it does feel one note. If you’ve listened to one song on this album, you’ve heard them all.

It’s a very pleasant and pretty album. Songs did begin to melt together a bit, but on future listens I’m sure this issue will go away.

"@andrewa1975 Idk. I know some people who have listened to a lot more music than me and still found a lot of enjoyment in this album. It really boils down to what you value the most in music. I'm real picky with pop and electronic albums, but some people may not be so picky and can see past the flaws this album may have. That's what I really like about media discussion, as it would be pretty boring if everyone loved the same thing, so hearing what others have to say and what they see in a work of art is what makes sites like these great."

On Goober1234's review of Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
"I think a lot more people rate songs lower due to hearing them a lot is more common that you think. Doechii's Anxiety and All I Want for Christmas Is You are two songs that get a lot of shit, and the main reason for that is because of how overplayed they are. However, I think pointing this out with big hit classics is also fair and really isn't talked about enough. Like I love Bohemian Rhapsody, but I'm sure if I surrounded myself with theater kids who played this non-stop I would hate it and myself as well."
