I do appreciate how big this album feels. It objectively sounds great and has better mixing than most metal albums that have come out recently.
I do think the songs are a bit to long though as I saw myself getting a bit bored, with songs reaching up to 9 minutes. I normally like longer songs, but the songs really don’t feel like they utilize the time they are given.
Even then, I still enjoyed myself and maybe on further listening I’ll find more enjoyment out of this.
Looking back at this soundtrack, this is probably the most influential metal record of the 2010s for the way it is written and produced.
Not only did modern metal change after this released, but the perception of metal changed with it, with a whole new crowd of people getting into the genre because of this game and its music.
While popular metal right now is being discussed and argued if it’s even any good, at least this album rules and is a main reason I still come back to the game to ... read more
I’m still excited for the upcoming album, but this song really didn’t do much for me. By his standards, it’s a bit weak.
A few things, about one thing:
No song has shocked me in a long time like the intro to Method Man has.
Me and my friends talk to each other in the same way as that intro.
It feels like someone took a knife a cut out a 1/3 of this album. Considering what this album symbolizes, it’s a haunting and very effective way to use music as an art form to emphasize an emotion.
It was a very strange listen, but on future listens, I’m sure my opinion will continue to positively change.
Backstory: when I was first getting into hip-hop about nine years ago, I had a friend from Utah recommend me NF. I never got around to listening to it at the time, but I kept it at the back of my head for a long time until I just forgot.
Fast forward two months ago, me and the homies were playing Fortnite Festival (which is a GOATED game mode btw) and the title track of this album was a song we could play. Well shit, here was finally my chance to listen to this artist my dear old buddy ... read more
I love it when some minor internet celebrity comes out as a fucking freak and I go down a rabbit hole about said freakiness.
Not my favorite by the band, but it essentially created djent and has some of the band's best songs, so it's an album worth celebrating.
This album reminds me of the time I fought the Ender Dragon and ended racism for good.
I can’t listen to this without crying.
Thank you for creating such beautiful art Kai.
The only thing that surprised me more than my enjoyment for this album is that this album didn’t win a single Grammy like what the fuck do they hate good music.
*Jigsaw Voice*: For your final challenge, listen to “Stop Making Sense: A Tribute Album.”
Me: Aww hell naw! Your ass tweaking Jigsaw!
The opening beat drop is one of the hardest things I have heard in my life.
It’s Madvillainy, what else do you want me to say?

It’s neat.
Definitely enjoy the upbeat songs more than the more mellow ones, as they don’t stand out that much.
The whole album definitely struggles to stand out from Roan’s influences, but I’m sure on later releases, she’ll find a sound that really makes her stand out a lot more.
It also helps that the album, in general, sounds pretty good.
