Meddle is one of the most fascinating albums Pink Floyd has made, with its diverse soundscapes and epic conclusion with Echoes, arguably the band’s best song.
It has its issues, with Seamus being a song that really drags this album down. However, even with the albums issues, it still stands tall as another success under the band’s belt of timeless classics.
I had a pretty decent listening experience my first time around, nothing superb, but nothing bad either. Then I went back and listened to Trench and that really opened my eyes as to how weak this album is.
There are a lot of great stuff here, but the band decides to put ion a bunch of stupid, goofy shit into the music and it ruins any emotional build up the album is trying to do. There is this constant feeling of emotional whiplash and the album never shakes, making it a very jarring and ... read more
Wrote this on Musicboard when the album originally released. My thoughts haven't changed, so I'll copy it here word for word.
The vocalist for the band was replaced because of issues relating to him posting seemingly transphobic statements on his social media. I went to check up on the actual comments he made. It wasn’t a joke, it wasn’t like some minor oopsy thing out of context. It was some heinous shit he said, weather you agree with him or not.

This album changed the way I viewed music. This was my entryway into experimental and sonically oppressive music and still holds up as one of my favorite albums of the decade so far.

Nothing more.

One of the best black metal records that has released this decade due to its diversity in sound, thick musical atmosphere and mixing that doesn’t sound like complete dog shit.
Most impressively, this is a self-published album, the second in less than a year. If this is only his second project, I’m excited to see what he makes in the future.
Although the album medals together in a way that the songs begin to sound the same, I had a very pleasant listening experience and love the album art.
I can’t be critical on an album like this. Dave Grohl making thrash metal is wholesome :).
While the album contains some of the band's best material to date, some of its softer moments feel out of place.
While still not as excellent as the band's later projects, this album marks a true turning point of the band becoming one of the best deathgrind bands out there.
Their first 'good' album and where the band finally found a footing in what they wanted to do.
