Wasn't gonna rate this cuz it's not really my thing but this song is better than Espresso and will age well like Bad Idea Right? -- trust bruv.
I'm Alive is the highlight of this short EP but this is very very nice Christian hip hop. Feels small scale and personal but with a great groove in it.
I haven't been a huge fan of Clairo's last album Sling, but this song fixes almost every issue I have with that project and this song keeps getting better with each listen to me. Great classic production with really good delivery from Clairo.
All killer, very little filler-- The Royal Scam is my third favorite Steely Dan album and it has some great stuff on it. From career highlights like Kid Charlemagne and Haitian Divorce, this thing is jam packed with great stuff. Really the only weakness on here to me is Sign In Stranger, which feels weak in comparison to the rest. Everything else is just varying levels of great.
Has some great songs like Bodhisattva, Your Gold Teeth and My Old School, but is overall less memorable than Steely's best.
Has some insanely phenomenal songs but is also one of the less "Steely-Dan-y" Steely Dan albums, with some tracks having other vocalists on it. Still a great album.
Has some great songs like Rikki, Pretzel Logic and Any Major Dude but isn't as consistent or memorable as some of their others. Has some songs that I feel could have been made by another band.
Not Steely Dan's best work, but I love Bad Sneakers and there's a handful of other phenomenal tracks here, along with a lot of other really good ones.
This generally just felt very boring to me as a massive steely dan fan. I thought Snowbound was pretty good but as a whole this project put me to sleep. None of the edge of steely dan and long meandering tracks that do a whole lot of nothing. Felt like a lot of the best musicians in the world came together and made something low effort with those skills to me. Still, it's still fairly complex and nice; just very few reasons to listen to this in comparison to anything Steely Dan, or even ... read more
Not as strong as most Steely Dan albums but has steely dan level tracks like IGY and The Nightfly, and no real misses either. Solid 8 from Donald.
In comparison to the great snippet, the rest of the song is kinda lame and sloppily structured.
A good improvement on the last single, and while it's a bit slow, Khalid's vocal performance is a lot more active than it's been in the past which makes this single work quite well for me. The production has also improved a good bit from of his past work, and so far has quite good replay value.
J Cole and Drake should collab and make a song called Wah Grip Delilah ๐
I’m not a huge em fan but this was good. It IMO doesn’t feel as skillful as the Em Show style it’s trying to replicate— in fact to do that it would probably have to be more off the wall and offensive. The hook isn’t great either— but still nice overall. Just lacking a bit lyrically and flow wise in comparison to those early albums.
Lol I do love how AOTY is throwing hands over a bar that would have been one of the weaker shock value bars in any 2000s Em ... read more
How is a rapper gonna make one of my favorite country songs this year lol
Clancy isn't constantly great, but is probably my favorite sound that TOP has ever put into an album and while not as cohesive or consistent as Trench, on a first listen I'm liking a lot of things that are going on here. Has a lot of career peaks and few, if any, career lows. It is a little odd that the lore seems so buried here given it's a finale, but still: really nice sounding album even if it's a tad inconsistent.
