Grace Jones seems like an artist that seems to almost trump her own auditory art by her stunning visual art. This cover is a great example, because it's incredibly striking at first sight. This album hits pretty hard right now as I’m going on a trip to escape my hectic life for a second. That feeling is perfectly captured here.
The production is GORGEOUS on here, like wow knocked it out of the park with how this all sounds. I do think that vocally and lyrically I wanted a bit more and I feel it lacks in those areas but there are nice parts here and there. The strongest songs are the ones that are allowed to build although sometimes the buildup can feel a bit slow, when it does get to the point, it's amazing. 5 hours of James Browns best material, gorgeous shit all around. My personal favourite is probably Disc 3, it has banger after banger and this is overall some of the absolute funkiest stuff I've heard in quite a bit.
Colour me suprised at how much I enjoyed this. While I liked Selling England by The Pound, I thought that it felt kind of dated in it's sound and was really not sold with symphonic prog as a genre at the time (which was before I listened to more of it but I still wasn't crazy about it overall).
