While I think this album is good, I just don’t think it’s as interesting or captivating as it should be. With how slow it’s paced, the payoffs are underwhelming to me.
Perfect soundtrack to demolishing your friend in a children’s card game
What a strangely beautiful take on folk and singer-songwriter. Us is a generational song.
This is the best executed thing joji has ever put out. It’s both interesting and sonically impressive, which is something I can’t really say about his later works. Too bad this will probably never make it onto streaming services.
What a beautiful love letter to jazz. Complete with great horn sections and absolutely top tier drumming. I wish more people would give this album a chance. It really is something special. How does it sound so fresh when it’s over 60 years old?
I think this album comes close to being something really special and I get why people think it is. I just can’t really get behind the direction Alex g takes his voice. It feels too nasally and somewhat irritating. The production can be good, but it can also be nondescript. While it is diverse, I think this can work against the album because you just get whiplash halfway through with how jarring and out of place some of these songs are. Alex g just isn’t my g after all.
A really great debut that shows a lot of heart and promise. I’ve heard about modern baseball for years and I’m very glad I decided to check them out. Sure it’s short, but they have so much potential to flesh out their core ideas and philosophies into something truly phenomenal.
The production on this album is pretty good but this style of rapping is just so annoying and gimmicky that I just don’t really enjoy the final product that much. There’s pockets of good ideas and moments but then it just goes back to being annoying.
I can see why this was such a massive success. The energy here is soft, yet infectious. I wanna hear mac demarco truly find himself and succeed. Not only through music but through life. That is a massive feat for such a simple album to accomplish.
Going into this I had no idea if these would be Christmas songs or it was just the title of the album.
Turns out they were Christmas songs.
But I like all these covers anyways so I’m not even complaining.
What a strangely great album. I had no idea what this was going to sound like but the production is great. Jay Electronica is also a very compelling rapper. All the jay-z features were good but definitely overshadowed by jay.
Eh it’s alright. I thought it’d go way harder but it doesn’t really reach that level for me.
An impressive debut that shows a lot of promise, but not the most interesting ideas right off the bat. Daniel has strong enough fundamentals to make something really phenomenal in the future.
Some incredibly performed, laid back rock music to just chill out to. Despite its chill energy, it’s not devoid of energy. It strikes a great balance.
I think I would like this more if I saw the influence this album had over hip-hop. As it is now, I think it’s a very good album that undoubtedly puts a smile on my face. However, I just didn’t fully fall in love with its ideas and execution.
Given all the hype this album gets I thought this would’ve been way better. However, I think the singing just falls flat for me. The ideas are really cool and production wise, pulled off really well. I just don’t think I’m a fan of Tyler Jospeh’s voice.
A harrowing journey through space. I can’t believe this came out all the way in the 80’s. It feels so ahead of its time.
While is it definitely longer than it should be, there are some generational songs here.
