An album that always commands your attention. From the vocals to the phenomenal piano playing to the awesome songwriting. Fiona is in a league in her own.
Some good ass shit on here. With great production and singing that is very passionate. Although I wish jimmy would stop singing baby that got repetitive and annoying. But as an album, I thought it was raw, expressive, and very explosive.
What a strange, fascinating album. I had no clue what I was gonna get into when I saw this album cover. I thought it was hilarious like why does he looks like that. Only for the album to have wonderful songwriting, unique production, and powerful vocals. The pacing can feel skewed sometimes. Like it’s either going too fast or too slow for my likings. But this is an underrated gem from this decade and I loved it, despite its shortcomings.
While Tate McRae may be hotter, Olivia shows off her impressive vocal range over some nice sounding production. The songwriting on here might be amateur, but it means something. And that’s all I can really ask for as a listener. For you to mean the things you write. So good job Livvy.
This album is remarkably consistent and mature. There’s no glaring flaws or insane highs. It’s just solidly consistent throughout. Although there are exceptions on both sides. A&t kinda sucks but it’s not horrid. All my friends however really caught me off guard. Nobody talks about it even though it’s definitely the best song on here.
The ambience here is really weird but I welcome it. But I barely remember the Bowie stuff. Let Brian eno cook
This album builds a world like no other. Piloted by such an interesting artist and person. But a lot of the time, it lacks substance. The features kill it though.
I think this album works best when everything comes together. The weirdly beautiful production can slot in so nicely with these absolutely beautiful vocals. It’s just sometimes it feels like this album doesn’t reach that peak combination very often. Which can lead to songs feeling segmented.
No screaming 0/10
This album is very well made. But I found it to be lacking in identity and originality. You can throw it on and have a decent experience. But you won’t remember it very well due to the weird left turn into more shoegaze more than black metal. So it’s decent, just not amazing.
There is literally nothing to this album that makes me want to return to it. It’s just so nothing in concept and execution that I’m baffled at its relatively high score. Because to me, this just sounds like basic, boring, uninspired rock and country with no flare. No pizzazz. Why would I ever come back to this?
Disappointing. This album is way, way below the masterclasses this man has produced. It’s just not as interesting. Simple as that.
The production on here can be absolutely mesmerizing. But where I think the album shows its cracks it’s Abel himself. He writes uninteresting songs in interesting ways. But sometimes this album just sounds like an incel wanting to fuck a girl. Which is not something I’m a fan of. Even the production can get stale and forgettable. But this album has an amazing atmosphere that has lived on forever in the world of rnb.
Meddle is an objectively great album. But I wish I connected with it more. It’s clear that this was the turning point for the band, switching from grandiose rock cuts to more boring psychedelic folk stuff. But overall, I’d say it was a generally great listen.
As somebody who’s more critical of what Phil does, I very much enjoy this album. It felt unique, powerful, and sad. Which is what I wish albums like the glow part two and mount eerie were more of. Sometimes it treads into that classic, kinda boring Phil shtick, but it’s not in there for a long time. So good job Phil. You made an album that’s still not as sad as Giles Corey self titled. I’m sure you’ll get there one day.
The only reason I was interested in this was I remember hearing the intro song in zeroxfusions old videos on plants vs zombies garden warfare 2. That song still holds up in my opinion. But soon after that, the album dissolves into boring indie sludge that is just not interesting at all. It’s not poorly made, but you would never catch me listening to this out on the town.
As much as drake personally bothers me, I can still admit that this is a great project. I think it’s a modern classic for my generation of rap fans. This album came out when I was 5 so a lot of these songs have a weird amount of nostalgia for me. And they still hold up. I love how versatile drake is on here. Being both fun and entertaining, but also vulnerable and sad. It makes for a dynamic listen that I enjoyed a lot. But this should not be 80 minutes.
